The Big ol' Xbox 3rd Party Releases Discussion Thread (HiFi, SoT, Pentiment, Grounded) (Part 1)

I think you will begin seeing those ADs with COD. Game Pass hasn’t really had much to work withs so there was no real reason to market it that hard, however they did market it a lot with STARFIELD.

If you actually look at it, Game Pass has had huge spikes based on some games and those games are what has built Game Pass in my opinion. They had a huge spike from the Forza Horizon 5 and Halo in 2021 and last year with STARFIELD. Game Pass needs huge hitters and that could start with COD again.

That was all getting the Xbox users on Gamepass.

If the next Xbox is going to be more open and allow other stores i.e. Steam, you’ll essentially get all xbox Games, all playstation games, all PC only games as well as GP

In that scenario, why would you buy a Playstation?

Yeah, I wonder if we could see a multi-pro get ad campaign this fall. Some ads focused on CoD, some focused on Minecraft/Fortnite, some on Indiana Jones and other “exclusives” and all focused on Game Pass availability of PC, Series X and Series S highlighted as the cheapest option.

If it has Steam and Sony doesn’t find a way to block their games, sure that would be awesome. I believe it when I see it though.

Hmm, but I still wonder how this benefits Steam unless Microsoft is going to take any % cut of steam purchases. On Microsoft’s end how do they generate revenue in this scenario if Steam doesn’t give up a % cut in purchases?

Microsoft like any other company will not endlessly support something if it isn’t making money.

Seems like a huge benefit to Steam because it exposed them to a bunch of new customers. Hard to say what the deal would be with Steam, but I’m sure they can negotiate something considering Steam already allows third parties to sell keys. This could be the digital equivalent of the same.

Microsoft would likely not sell the console at a loss and wouldn’t have to worry as much about making the money back on each device sold. Microsoft is already at only 12% cut on the PC store.

So with paramount acquired by Sony. How many exclusives will playstation do?

If you think they won’t , then you are fooling yourself.

Xbox, try to gain a competitive edge will ya?

Cause this could be trouble long term if Sony decides to just make exclusive game using ip from paramount.

Please chill, I hate to ignore people lol

What IP though? Star Trek, maybe South Park, Top Gun and Mission Impossible based on who actually owns the gaming rights (even Trek might be tied up elsewhere).

I couldn’t really see that much hot property in what they have to be honest - it’s been years since any of those have been must-have like Spider Man was due to the MCU

Not to mention who would make the games. It’s a wild thing to be worried about lol. It isn’t like they got WB.

This is far more of a movie/tv move than gaming one. Any gaming related things would be extremely far off.

Yes, they’re worth $3T because they’re laser focused on making money an creating even more value for their investors. The minute they change that attitude, their stock plunges.

Every time someone brings up how much money Microsoft has it tells me they don’t understand that all of these decisions are going to be looked at from a ROai perspective.

Yeah, I think that’s the tricky part because I am unsure if Valve wants to give up 12%. I guess the next xbox could be exciting if they find a way to make this work with Epic and Valve, and remove the paywall for online play. I think doing that could make people give a next gen multiplat xbox a chance if they’re going that route. I feel the online paywall is getting up there in price like to play online on the PSN it cost me over $100CDN/year, and that feels like a robbery

Don’t really see what they’d gain making games based on IPs from Paramount honestly, unless you are trying to sell your games to boomers. Maybe Nickelodeon and even that ain’t huge. Paramount + is also irrelevant outside the US. This is a Sony move anyway, not a PlayStation move.

I find you overreacting quite a lot on nothing burgers!
