They have 34m subs, of course they have casuals in their already but everyone in the world knows what Netflix is, ask a random person on the street if they know what GP is and I guarantee most of them wouldn’t have a clue
That’s not to say Game Pass will or ever should be as big as Netflix just that it hasn’t even came close to being recognisable within the mainstream

I’m pretty sure game pass will become more well known once COD launches on it and the marketing kicks in. We have no idea of how big the impact could be yet, even with marketing alone.
Any people rushing to get rid and go to PC - if you truly enjoy the console experience I’d heavily suggest waiting out the rest of this gen.
Peter Moore couldn’t change anything, too much damage has been done to the brand.
But he knew that Europe and Asia were very important to Xbox and that focusing only on the USA was not sustainable. Unfortunately, Mattrick and Spencer didn’t care about that and destroyed his work. Now, that the Xbox brand is irrelevant and near-dead outside of the USA/UK, Xbox has no choice but to port their games on the other platforms.
Saying the PS strategy isn’t working is hyperbole. They are selling consoles on PS4 / PS2 levels and the brand is incredibly strong while also having great success on PC.
I wonder that means other ports are not being handled by the native developer.
A few months ago Lucid Games became one of the developers that would help in the future support of Sea of Thieves, the same ones who also developed Destruction All Stars, so they already have enough experience with PS5

You sure about that? The problem I think with Game Pass is there is no point marketing it if there no way to get it. Distribution is the key here you have console, PC and Cloud. Console costs too much to produce and subsidize, Cloud seems to have hit a wall with the long queues leaving PC which they haven’t done a good job in. I think if Cloud was functional they would be marketing hard and with PC the windows store is just bare bones, you can’t play your library only Play Anywhere titles and the store is virtually empty not to mention so many games skip it. If they could unite their platforms so you could get the Xbox platform experience with your full library and store they would have a chance.
I only noticed it now. There isn’t even the Xbox Game Studios logo in the physical version of Pentiment, there’s only the Obsidian one. Damn, it’s like they’re really ashamed of their brand…
I think a few people are going with:
“if they put those games on Playstation that I don’t really care about and use the money to make Perfect Dark AND NEVER PUT THAT ANYWHERE ELSE then I don’t mind.”

I like Peter Moore so I won’t say much there but he was in Sega when it went down, he was also responsible for making Mass Effect multiplat. That said I really can’t say how he would have done as it was a different time. The PS strategy has shrunk their profits yearly, recently wiped off 10 billion from their stock value. They also recently cut down their forecast and they saw a 17% drop this January in the UK. They are also behind ps4 and Ps2 in console sales not to mention they count the portal as a unit. analyst are saying they are not so hot right now.
Every leader has their own ups and downs. No one is perfect and no one is completely on their liking.

Huh? They’re empoyees, not independent companies. Why would they care?
At least developers can focus on new works, new game or expansion or even remasters, while having others do the porting work.
One thing I find really weird about video game fandom is caring how the devs feel about things ie the thought of the devs dictating to their employers about who gets to play their games & actually thinking this should be taken into consideration.
They are employees and are paid by their employers to make games for them. The notion that well isn’t it great they get their game to be played by who they want it to be by, Is wild to me. Even more so that fans think it’s a consideration people should have.
Because they may be on bonuses relating to revenue, play time etc, meaning certain XGS studios will get to make more money and their staff more bonuses than other studios not allowed to go multiplatform.
It’s a gaming subscription, it’ll never come close to Netflix or anything of the sort in terms of mindshare.
They’re close to their ceiling with this current install base in my opinion.
To see enormous growth, they’re going to need Cloud Gaming to explode or sell more consoles. PC is nice and all but Xbox community there is weak.
You however have no guarantee to be playing all Xbox first party games on your PS6 either. Unless someone had an Xbox and didn’t really like Xbox first party and was mostly just playing 3rd parties, I feel like switching over is a bad move, unless of course you had 0 attachments to Xbox first party in general. If not I feel like a lot of people will regret their move as they think it’s an all out situation when it comes to porting when I highly doubt that it will be the case.
