The Big ol' Xbox 3rd Party Releases Discussion Thread (HiFi, SoT, Pentiment, Grounded) (Part 1)

With all due respect, I don’t follow this logic. So you would leave the platform you have already invested money in because you can now play ‘some Xbox games in 6-12 months’ on the PS5 Pro?

I agree with you if it was the entire slate, but ‘some games’ doesn’t guarantee that the games you want are included. Xbox guarantees that access (and Day 1 on Game Pass).

I don’t care about exclusive games anymore. Hoping to see some indication of new hardware next week. Don’t really buy anyone saying they’ll leave the platform, seems more like people screaming into the void. Xbox should do things differently to succeed imo.

Any decisions are based on the current climate and alot of assumptions. If everything is flipped and Microsoft really goes forward to drastically, the metrics they have used will no longer be applicable.

Makes more sense to me to keep the Series X and buy a Steamdeck instead. That way you can have gamepass and Playstation exclusives (and a Switch)

Not just Halo that’s true but then there’s more cases like Forza Motorsport which felt like it didn’t even have a pulse before falling off like days later.

Is that because of contractors or just garbage management? Playground have only went from strength to strength and I believe they both use the same engine so it’s clearly not an engine issue like Halo had

People overstate infinites issues. A 87 metascore is fine. 30 million players in 2 years is fine.

MS feels the same way. “You guys are locked into our eco system so we can fuck you over as much as we like, what are you gonna do?”

Maybe they’re right or maybe it blows up in their faces. Time will tell…

Nothing bad about it imo. It’s basically reiterating things we all know and said here about MS not following through with their consumer products.

I’m with with criticizing Jez for his sometimes all over the place attitude but I’m sensing some are making it almost personal here and I hope it’s not the case.

People tend to exaggerate about stuff but if we are talking next gen? Nah, people will leave in droves if they know they can just get everything on PS instead, myself included

I love Xbox, it’s been my console of choice since 360 but all they are doing is giving me less reasons to invest in their ecosystem

I’ll wait and see what their plans are and if their next console is a more open platform then I’ll probably stay but if it’s another closed platform like now with no exclusives, not good enough

This, I’m tired of Jez’s flip flopping and takes but he’s right, MS aren’t good with this stuff whatsoever

The game had 20m players after a month or 2, it’s Halo, the game is free and likely cost 100s of million to make, it’s absolutely not fine

The contractor thing is only in the US.

6-12 months isn’t long enough honestly I’d switch to playstation going forward and keep the Xbox for my backlog but wouldn’t buy a next gen xbox and just roll with playstation going forward. Idk if 2 years is long enough honestly I could just go with playstation and wait it out and have pretty much every game in one place

Honestly wouldn’t be surprised if this is part of the plan - especially if they are targeting 2026 for next gen as some rumours suggest. It’s the Elder Scrolls 6 approach - announce early with a “hey, we’re doing some different stuff and folks are worried, but look, the stuff you expect is still coming”.

I don’t even know him to say it’s personal. Just say Xbox is dead and going mutliplat and then saying Xbox is fine is unnecessary.

And all he does is engagement farming. I honestly dislike this whole Twitter blue BS.

No Jez was like that before the Twitter blue madness, by his own admission he’s drunk a lot of the time he tweets.

?? Didnt Forza Horizon 5 do 35m players too? Is that not fine?

But more than three years before it launches (if that rumor is true)? Isn’t that extremely early and unusual?

Halo is, or was their biggest IP and is F2P, FH5 is not F2P and from your numbers seems to have had more players

Pretending Infinite hasn’t been a huge disappointment for them is burying your head in the sand, it had a decent launch then fell off a cliff and never recovered outside of the usual hardcore players which is nowhere near enough for a game of this cost in modern gaming

Didn’t Microsoft got criticized for their 2020 showcase because of it ? No release date, no gameplay and only cinematics?

It’s not entirely the same, but I don’t think it shows a lot of confidence when you have to announce something years away to calm your userbase.
