Man, this is literally the dumbest decision I’ve ever seen in gaming. Xbox revenue was considerably bigger than Activision, because of their hardware, subscriptions and software sales.
Now they dropped all that, and are focusing solely on getting Sony’s and Nintendo’s 70% cut that they get from being third party. While none of their other games will sell nearly as well as cod on PS. What a braindead idea. There’s no way this would increase MS revenue, even short term.
The reason Xbox hasn’t responded yet is because they’re investigating who’s leaking this information whether it’s an actual employee or a disgruntled employee who was laid off.
In order to find out, you start leaking information around and see which one starts to spread. Lot’s high level organizations use this tactic when there is a PR crisis.
No day 1 sounds like something the XBLG price hike crew would do so I wouldn’t be surprised. It’s already not Day 1 for the really big releases anyway with the early access option.
This is the frustrating part, we are only just starting to see the exclusives from some of the studios they’ve acquired.
Ninja Theory, Obsidian, Inxile Undead Labs etc.
Now we finally get them after repeatedly being told wait until next year this happens.
IMO if they go down this route it should be 6 months for GamePass and 12-18 months minimum for other platforms. I still think it would tank their hardware sales.
Let’s just forget they plastered Xbox exclusive after the teaser, come on, I really hate this “we always said it”, because it’s not true, they lied if it’s true.
Until they show the numbers, we have to believe that it made sense and it makes sense still. We saw how far Gamepass grew with it and maybe we need more acquisitions to have a monthly tap. Increase the price of Gamepass by another 5 or 10 bucks would be worth it. Take COD off PS next gen as well. The regulators wont do anything to MS.
They have that market cap because of their enterprise products. They’re consumer products have not moved the needle in the slightest and many of them have just been money they’ve set on fire.
