Hmmm, good point. I guess we all automatically assumed it would be about this. But really doesn’t necessarily have to be at all.
Yeah, Nintendo. Very possible.

Perhaps it’s linked to Jason’s book that could have MS related content. EDIT nvm see below.
probably because he said it in a thread about it so people would put two and two together if he wanted to he could have done it somewhere else but he chose that thread
I’m not so sure that is a problem. I think they are just at capacity. X-cloud seems to be at capacity and according to the FTC slide they are not at the second wave of getting more X-cloud infrastructure ready. The only way to increase subs will be through native hardware and that would be best done through PC as console hardware is limited and comes at a loss.
Haven’t they done that. Also, since X-cloud is limited, they would need to go native and other than powerful PCs what other hardware or devices will play these games? I think they were banking on streaming but scaling for billions doesn’t seem feasible heck I doubt X-cloud could even support up to 100 million seeing as you have to queue for most games today. I also think streaming console games is best on TVs so until TVs are upgraded to a place where they can play these games natively or X-cloud is at the spot where it can support hundreds of millions of subscribers on TV streaming I don’t see much gain.
I think the mistake of Phil and the team was assuming customers on each platform are all the same tier of “Xbox fans”.
They’re not. Xbox console users live and breathe the Xbox ecosystem, PC users dip their toes into the ecosystem and flee whenever it suits them. It’s great for MUA’s and selling games but the subscription aspect of it a different ballgame.
So yes, in theory there’s a much larger pool to tap into on PC in terms of gamepass growth but that pool is as shallow as a puddle. There’s a clear reason why growth has slowed and it’s directly correlated to the lack of hardware growth.
I love you guys, even if this thread is completely insane.
Not sure if it’s worth anything but…
God… No
This is why MS needs to comment on these rumours, it’ll just get worse.
These rumors have gotten out of hand, Microsoft doesn’t owe its fans anything but what was already promised. First party games in gamepass.
I don’t understand the anger over this, just feels like console warring. They’re a company whose purpose is to make as much money as possible. The current set up isn’t work. With the purchase of Activision Blizzard, they’re in this game to maximize profits. If all these games still come to gamepass on day one for a reasonable monthly fee, I’m gamed.
Yes me too but the concern comes from third party support decreasing if sales do.
Doom year zero doesn’t even exist, right? I wouldn’t pay attention to this account anyway. Pretty much a console war account.
There’s no store and you can only play a select few games. I’m thinking akin to Amazon Prime for gaming
I asked him why he’s doing this, basically just making shit up. The rumor is solely SoT and HFR.
This topic got me thinking… do publishers know how many Xbox consoles have been sold? Microsoft doesn’t release the data publicly, but could it be disclosed to publishers? It seems strange to me they develop on a console without knowing whether it is selling well or badly…
That’s because it is just console warring… about to jump off this train completely because the media-driven console war bullshit has severely rotted people’s brains.
I’m not against games on other platforms, as I would prefer the Xbox ecosystem over PlayStation for a number of different reasons. The problem is the possible effect that could be created: first party games on PS5/Switch 2-----> fewer consoles sold ------> less third party support ---------> and in addition it is also easier for Sony to get timed exclusives
