State of Play, September 13th

In the grand scheme of things. They arent. Otherwise 99 percent of japan devs would completely ignore xbox. But xbox is selling too many systems globally for jpn dves to ignore. Much more so than xbox one did.and they make the GP money too

My point is…look at hoe dominant switch is in japan

Yet most multiplats and next gen games skip switch. The hardware sales in japan isnt something the devs look to.

After today’s SoP and Nintendo Direct, it’s shocking how far behind Xbox still is, not just in quality, but also frequency of releases.

Lets be real. Stellar blade has more chance to be a mediocre action game than a good one. Look at the dev and look at how fanservicy it looks.

I would have still played it. But not for 70 bucks. No fucking way.

Lets wait until tgs is over first.

Also switch announced alot of ports and low budget sequels. Some of them coming to xbox.

So this is some spin off samurai game.

Still waiting for PS to hit over 90 meta since the generation started and remake don’t count.

this shouldn’t come as a surprise given a bunch of Nintendo devs were also helping the original. so i can imagine they were okay if the game comes to Xbox but not PS given the ‘cold’ rivalry given the rivalry between Nintendo and Sony.

Some of this chat should be in the XBox TGS thread

Yeah, samurai hack and slash based on historical figures… (Sakamoto Ryōma).

Famitsu gave it 38/40 back in 2014.

I saw some reactions on RE and they are saying that Ishin is right up there with 0 being as good, maybe even better. Sounds amazing

Yeah while I’ve gotten into Yakuza in recent years I wasn’t aware what the specific deal ont his game is, but people in the know seem to be REAL happy it’s coming out

There’s also another Yakuza samurai era game on the PS3, Yakuza Kenzan. It was actually the first HD Yakuza game, even before Y3. It’s pretty dated nowadays though, would need a full on remake.

And yeah from what people who’ve played Ishin have said it’s as good as Y0.

“Hello studio, here’s a bag of cash and don’t worry about developing for xbox anymore”

Pretty easy I’d imagine

and next year they have TLOU Factions or whatever that multiplayer thing is, FF7R2, FF16, Spiderman 2 confirmed so far

Square is carrying that baggage for Sony before they get Xbox 2022 treatment talking.

My point is, the more successful your platform is, the more easier it’ll be to get publishers to not skip your platform.

State of Play ended up being better than I was expecting going in and while the first 6 games weren’t bad, none of them were for me. The last four games shown saved the show for me.

  1. Synduality

This looks pretty cool despite the fact that im not into “mechs” but added it to my future game list and will keep an eye on it.

  1. Stellar Blade

Sony is publishing this game and was said to be one of the two console exclusives right before it was shown. Formerly known as Project Eve, been into this game since last year when it was shown. Looks like Dante from DMC and Bayonetta had a one night stand which is fine by me. Looks great and seems like it should play great too. While I wait for the next DMC game, this will be a good game to tide me over until then.

  1. Rise of the Ronin

Sony is publishing this game as well and like Stellar Blade, im expecting it to be a full console exclusive for PS5. Game looks fucking awesome!!! Best of all, it’s not a souls game!! Woohoo!!! A pure action RPG so very happy about this.

  1. God of War Ragnarok

As of now, my 2022 game of the year has been Dying Light 2 but come November 9th, that will most likely no longer be the case. GOWR looks amazing and can’t wait to play it!!!

Overall, better than I was expecting with the last four games saving it for me.

Of course. But MS can’t go from selling 150k consoles lifetime to 2 million in one gen. And MS need to promote and entice devs with Gamepass. Its not just about hardware numbers. Look at PS software sales in Japan over past 2 years. Theyve been shit for the most part. Even if MS had more console sales…their gamepass numbers being healthy and high will get publishers to take notice and put games on xbox. Without GP success…even more publishers skip Xbox.

They both go hand in hand to me.

So I guess it was a good show. Will watch at work.
