Square Enix and Xbox

The cause is that not enough people care to buy a 500 dollar system and 70 dollar game. Thats the main one

Microsoft/Xbox should focus on partnering directly with everyone SquareEnix has ever worked with. This gets that content on Xbox and cuts off valuable resources from SquareEnix. Starve them out. Completely.

Keep this up until MS can pickup SE’s IPs from the inevitable bankruptcy auction fire-sale.

Final Fantasy XVI is a great game but a disappointing Final Fantasy game in my opinion.

Yeah that’s why I don’t experience any FOMO at the moment. I’ll just wait for a sale. Everything I’ve seen and heard of the game makes me think it’s a probably cool game, but not what I want out of a Final Fantasy game, or a JRPG for that matter.

The game is missing basically everything I want and expect from a FF

Disappointing is an understatement

Its missing what people want from an rpg period

Ive only played it briefly at my cousins here and there. Enjoy the combst and set pieces. Might buy it for pc one day or when it comes to ps extra.

It’s not an rpg, it’s an action adventure game lie god of war. It’s not a bad thing, but def see that being a polarizing thing

They (as in Square) call it an Action RPG though.

FF16 should have been a spin off or it’s own IP.

Fair, just feels more of an action adventure than an action rpg. Like god of war and horizon has more rpg elements tbh.

FF16 def gets better as combat opens up, and a solid 8/10 for me

Can’t argue with anything you said. For me, it’s a great DMC style action game with minimal RPG elements at best. It’s also geared towards a very casual market because it’s extremely easy. I finished a few games over the last two months and didn’t want to add another game to my backlog so I figured, let me play through FF XVI while im waiting for Remnant 2.

Yeah, I can’t argue with what you’re saying either. My only experience with FF is FF 7 Remake which I loved and that game had far better combat and RPG elements.

FF XVI is simply style and flash at the expense of substance and depth in my opinion.

God of war 2018 is more of an rpg than this game. This is more like the old ps2 god of war games. Just mash a bunch of buttons and win. Though those games were epic too.

It’s exactly like the old god of war mixed in with some mmo elements with side quests and whatnot.

God of war 2 on ps2 is legit one of my all tiem fav games. That game was outstanding. Probably my fav game published by sony ever although Shadow of the Colossus comes close.

Maybe skipping PC wasn’t so smart, but at least Square seems content with sales and potential growth

The fact they brought up install base is an excuse.

I don’t really have a horse in this race, but the qualifier

Square Enix has insisted sales of Final Fantasy 16 are “extremely strong”, telling IGN the game has sold well relative to the PlayStation 5 install base.

is a bit suspect to me. It also seems like it doesn’t have much in the way of legs, but I don’t know how typical that is since I’m not a market analysis type of person.

IGN sources familiar with the performance of Final Fantasy 16 confirmed sales had slowed considerably since launch but that the game was not yet considered the disaster some claimed it to be.

I love Final Fantasy but have zero interest in 16. It looks like your typical Sony movie game.

I just hope we get a turn based FF9 remake.

The fact they specifically said relative to install base is some major spin

It’s what fanboys have used since the game came out, even though more console sales = more software sales doesn’t work the way people think it does and it’s still a regression from FFXV which had a similar PS4 userbase when it released

The game isn’t some financial bomb like Forspoken but the series isn’t growing, closer to the opposite, not to mention the legs for the game are looking terrible

They said the reviews for Forspoken were “challenging”. You can spin everything lmao.
