I was surprised at the amount of next-gen exclusives.

I truly believe that the combination of Xbox being bashed for saying it would keep supporting Xbox One + Sony being praised for saying (lying?) its games would be next-gen only made Microsoft switch stances. And now we are in a position in which Xbox has the most next-gen exclusives announced.

From today’s show only, from the top of my head (not all are first-party): Starfield, Stalker 2, Contraband, A Plague Tale, Slime Rancher 2, Shredders, Outer Worlds 2, Flight Simulator and Redfall.

Plus, look at this July/August calendar for Game Pass:

I’ve just remembered something. When Jez was teasing a 3rd party exclusive coming this year via Xbox Publishing, what was he talking about? There is absolutely nothing matching that description, unless the game got delayed and not announced.

If the devs wanted to make this game the wayt it is, we should let them. I don’t see why they should have refused to publish the game because it is not single-player. It would just send the wrong message accross the industry.

No I completely get that but still, you get these studios who have a reputation for solid single player games, the very thing XGS lacks; and they come out with Bleeding Edge, Grounded, RedFall and Contraband. It doesn’t mean they aren’t great or shouldn’t have been made but it’s still an odd situation for MS to find themselves into.
