Handheld + Series X2, but also put the handheld chip in the Series S2 for a cheaper home console and keep it 1:1 spec wise to the handheld so it’s cheap and easier to dev for both.
$799 Series X2 2TB
$599 Series S2 Portable 1TB
$399 Series S2 home console 1TB
They should somehow make it plug and play but with 2280 NVME drives, I love the expansion card idea but it’s simply too expensive they need to use 2280 off the shelf but make it tool less to add.
I’d rather they stick with 1tb in the x2 and no drive to keep costs down and 500gb drive in handheld to keep costs down with options for us to add more if we want .
I often wonder looking at the pro how much more powerful the next gen consoles will be than that and I don’t think it will be as big of raw power leaps as people think. It will be more about the features the system has like the pro with its pssr and Xbox with think like quick resume. I wonder if the Xbox handheld will be hybrid? I think it’s a good move. But I do expect a handheld and a x2. Just like I expect a handheld and a ps6 and I think the next phase of the console war won’t be about the high end units but the portable/hybrid ones. This next gen is gonna be great either way
The executive, who has repeatedly professed his admiration for handheld game devices, said the “expectation is that we would do something” in that category. Although the company is working on prototypes and considering what it might do, Spencer also asked his group to look at the market and develop its vision based on what it learns. Such a device is a few years out, he said.

Now let’s look up what “few years” translates to in numbers, and whether Phil uses it differently, we need someone with deep Phil Spencer lore knowledge. Still hope that this can be 2026
