Soul Hackers 2 from Atlus Out Now On Xbox One and Xbox Series!

With this releasing on Windows store as well. I think Game Pass is almost guaranteed might not be day 1 but could be a few months after release.

Reminds me of that guy I saw from stream, aggressively telling everyone to buy the game if you truly support it and want more of it. It was on Capcom Fighting Collection. It’s true because Darkstalkers could have a chance but no one bought it, so where is the support. In short, buy it if you want more.

As long as playstation doesnt end up with marketing rights for the game then i think theres a fairly good chance itll come to GP day one, it would be the best way to give atlus a bigger fanbase on Xbox

I have to say I’m super excited and thrilled if a little shocked

One Thing I got from this is how pathetic some of the hardcore Nintendo fans are about missing out on the game and hoping this game fails. Some even laughing at Xbox release.

Like Wake up and realise Switch hardware is ancient and outdated. SMTV should have given you indications that NO future stlus games aside from last gen ports(like a P5) should be coming out on Switch.

If Atlus can invest in Xbox and get the rewards then good for them

I’m really hoping Persona 5 and other Atlus games come to Xbox. Especially Persona 6. MS have to do everything they can to make sure that isn’t an exclusive. P6 must be Multiplat.

Well Atlus being inconsistent with where they release games is becoming a meme now, so I wouldn’t write off Nintendo just yet. That said this is the chance to show Atlus and other Japanese developers that there is an audience for their games on Xbox. It doesn’t need to set the world on fire most likely, but good enough to not be ignored. We need Xbox to at least be on the dart board when they are deciding on where to release their next game.

I was really bummed out at how badly SMTV performed, and how boring the environments were. I did 100% if after mitigating things some, but it more than anything else made me hope the Switch wouldn’t get non-Nintendo exclusives.

Im not touching SMTV. Will wait for a better version. Were in 2022 and switchs 5th year. Outside of a few 1st party exclusives i dont think well see many excluisves at all post 2022 without a hardware revision. Maybe a few nintendo ones at best. Certainly not AAA ones.

Atlus were probably equally frustrated with the development of SMTV. Even capcom only did a timed deal for MH rise which nintendo had to pay a bucket load of money for.

Soul hackers 2 got announced and is coming out in 6 months. Thats crazy even for atlua.

Fun fact: It took Atlus 3 years and some months to support the Switch, with Catherine remaster.

It took Atlus 1 year and some months to support the Xbox series with a brand new game

(You could also read this as Atlus taking 9 years to support Xbox One though lol)

I think you can only read it as 10 years since they last put a game on Xbox. Which was Arena Ultimax on 360. They were working on SMTV for Switch at the time.

My only hope is Soul Hackers 2 for Xbox is them having some experience working with the console for future games.

Like I said earlier in the thread, I think there was a money bag exchange to get this game on Xbox, otherwise it’d have been a PS/PC game which is more in character for Atlus to do.

I just hope when that money was exchanged, Soul Hackers 2 was not the only game discussed for getting Atlus games on Xbox. Project Refantasy and for sure Persona 6 were hopefully discussed.

Marvelous started supporting Xbox again too, and it wasn’t just with one game, it’s with every release they’ve been doing since Fall last year (barring Rune Factory 5 which seems to have a Nintendo deal), so I hope Atlus also got the multi-game deal.

I think the Switch will get the Etrian Odyssey Next project they’re working on. So I don’t think Atlus is “entirely” done with the Switch yet, hopefully there is no Nintendo deal on that and that can be multiplat too.

I honestly still want P4 Golden on xbox, even more than 5. I guess i’m just more attached to that cast.

Does this bode well for that fantasy game Altus is making, I wonder?

When is this going to be available to pre-order? I want to buy it in support for more Atlus games in the future!

Same, I’ve been checking Amazon like every day lol.

There is certainly something happens with Atlus. Their behavior is too erratic.

Yea its totally out there

I’ll be playing the original game on 3DS before this one comes out…. How well has it aged?

What is your experience with DRPGs (first person dungeon crawlers)? It more or less plays like a typical one (moving like on a grid, random encounters, a map that gets filled in as you walk around). I’ll just list some bullet points

-Easy mode exists for newcomers to the genre in any case.

-There’s some annoyances early on like how there’s this currency that expends as you walk around (demons taking damage at 0), but it doesn’t take long until you’re overflowing with it (I remember having so much I was exchanging tons of it for money), and the demons don’t always listen to your commands (there’s very easy to get items that maxes out their relationship gauge so that they always listen though).

-You have two human party members and then 4 demon party members for a total of 6 active at once. The more demons you have out, the more that currency gets expended (the humans don’t use any), so sometimes I’d just have the two humans (they’re the best fighters anyway) and then one or two powerful demons out while exploring, and then equip a full party before a boss.

-There were times when I had to look up what to do next.

-They didn’t really touch up the graphics or performance, so keep that in check for a Sega Saturn game. I recall SMT Strange Journey Redux is another SMT DRPG and I recall that looking and running better since that was built specifically for 3DS.

-Like most SMT games, the protagonist dying in battle is an automatic game over (even Soul Hackers 2 will probably have this, SMT V and Persona 5 did).

-You can save whenever/wherever you want

-3DS version added full voiced main story. The dub is good enough, the main characters are all good.

-Just doing the story is probably only about 25 hours so it’s not a big time commitment like most JRPGs anyway.

-I enjoyed the story. Basically it’s about a group of hackers unravelling the mystery of “Paradigm X”, a virtual internet-world being used by a sinister tech corporation for nefarious purposes. Makes me think of this metaverse stuff nowadays lol.

Overall I would say it’s not a -particularly- well aged game. Definitely NOT horribly aged either… This is not some impossibly hard and cryptic game (MOST times it was obvious where to go next). Just go in with the right mindset. I enjoyed it at least, played it only 2 years ago.

Also, there’s this dialogue choice early on where you comment on a character’s personality… This choice is actually secretly choosing what ability tree a certain party member is going to have. They can end up being a fire (what I got), ice, or elec user. I think most people say the elec path makes the game easier.

Maybe Sonic has his eye on sight from afar if you know what I mean.

I’ve sort of had my peace with P4G. Would be great for new players to play but I have 0 reason to revisit. 150+ on Vita and Those characters and story are very well cherished from me. But No need to go back. P5 I haven’t beaten and I’ve sold my Ps4 pro so I’m probably going to wait for Xbox version or just get it again on PS5 when i eventually get a PS5.

Hopefully Sega has influence. No way this was atlus decision. If Sega had their way we’d get all atlus games on PC and Xbox by now. Too muchmoney and exposure not to.

The yakuza series is way more popular now than ever due to gamepass. Persona series can go the same way.
