Sony hides trailer for Star Wars: KoTOR remake and deletes announcement tweet

Yeah . Those people who pretended that this was Sony pulling a master stroke and stealing Xbox exclusives are very quiet now.

Really sad to see the state of Kotor rmk.

Aspyr was never the right choice for the game even when they hired a lot of ex BioWare developer. Before Kotor Aspyr only made ports.

And apparently Saber Porto was the new developer who only made AA games.

The whole Embracer Group situation is a mess.

Xbox avoids another “Scalebound”

I’m sure a hungry dev like Owlcat who have demonstrated excellence on financial constraints would jump at the opportunity. The only issues with the Pathfinder games are some bugs on launch and iffy optimization. These technical issues are the kinds of things that can be solved with a bag of money and throwing extra man power at the problem. Owlcat is definitely an RPG dev to look at. With Larian having back to back major success with Divinity into BG3, I think Owlcat has a good chance of being the next breakout RPG devs.

Yeah , I think should’ve targeted a hungry studio like them. I am not sure if it’s you or somebody else that said it here, but they should def be on Microsoft’s list

Remember when Phil was getting shit on for passing on this?

It was me haha. Owlcat definitely understands RPG’s and what makes the genre great. At least personally, I think the Pathfinder games are damn near perfection outside of technical issues, and while technical issues can absolutely ruin a game, it’s genuinely something that can actually just be fixed with more resources. On the creative side, Owlcat is amazing. I think they’d be an excellent studio to look at if Xbox has faith in the future of Isometric RPG’s.

While I would love nothing more than to wake up one morning to see ‘Xbox Games Studios and Obsidian take on development of KOTOR’, I just can’t see a scenario where that really makes sense.

Obsidian’s plate is full with Avowed (nearing completion) and The Outer Worlds 2. They are also still supporting (albeit with a small team) Grounded.

From the Microsoft side, while it absolutely would be a PR win for Microsoft and Xbox, why spend millions to license the Star Wars / KOTOR IP, when you could get a similar PR win by simply utilizing an IP you already own by announcing Fallout: New Vegas 2.

But what about any mention of it?

Sure they do.

That’s why they have Star Wars trailers on the PlayStation YouTube channel dating back 10 years ago, including one for a long discontinued Star Wars Limited Edition PS4.

My brother has that PS4!

The music rights excuse is also bullshit.

Smoke and Mirrors to keep the Sony fanboys onside.

“Game’s not cancelled, just releasing with no Star Wars music”

I expect that reply on Twitter tonight.

Please tell me its Sony Music that has the music… would be extra hilarious.

Star Wars on Xbox would be a major PR coup.

There is no doubt about that. I’d have bought a Playstation to play the KOTOR remake if it had been any good. I had the full nostalgia hit from the 80s as a kid when I watched the trailer.

What’s funny this game helped push some early playstation sales. I know it might sound a bit crazy, but I remember reading online many picked up a PS5 in hopes to play this game.

Anyways, Disney needs to get a better handle of this IP because we also have that David Cage Star Wars game that is in trouble. At least the Ubisoft Star Wars game looks good, but Star Wars IP deserves better than its current output

It’s pretty good, I enjoyed Jedi Survivor this summer and looking forward to Outlaws this winter. Wouldn’t say no to more of course.

Sony seems to back games more as PR wins to sell consoles rather than backing solid games.
