Sony Acquisitions | OT | Organic Sellers Market

 Xbox is not against third party exclusives, it’s just not their main strategy. They have third party exclusive deals with Squanch for High on life, then there is STALKER 2, and the recently announced Lamplighters. But overall MS’s strategy is to take advantage of their own IP, acquire IP and developers to expand their sub service. Different companies, different strategies. And btw, Death Stranding is an IP owned and published by Sony, so that game isn’t even third party.

Long term it’s probably the better and more sustainable strategy, but for me just the immediate benefits of abk deal are minimal. I was going to buy Diablo 4 anyway but I haven’t touched a call of duty game in a long time.

But that’s the thing right, immediate benefits are minimal. At the very least CoD gives MS a money factory to further invest in games elsewhere. But then you have to consider the enormous amount of talent in the studios they may acquire that can be redirected from being CoD support studios to producing original content. The long term benefits from this deal are potentially massive.

To be a bit more OT though the obvious problem for Sony and their 3rd party exclusive strat. is that if MS keep buying opportunities to snag them will become increasingly rare as we saw with their attempt to tie up starfield.

It’s hilarious to me that I don’t care about any of those games and I’m not saying that because I’m salty. I am lucky that every single timed exclusive they have locked down doesn’t effect me in anyway as I haven’t played any of those IP and have no interest in any of them.

The only timed exclusive stuff I cared about was the shit they pulled with Destiny and COD.

How is this “working”? I can play two of these games right now on my Series X and none on a Playstation 5.

And the irony is red hot with Sony fans listing a game by Bloober Team

I still think Xbox should strike back and pay exclusivity for a game everyone thought would be multiplat.

Nah, those things are dumb and annoying.

However, if the ABK deal falls through all gloves should come off and MS should moneyhat Sony into irrelevance.

And Silent Hill 2 and Final Fantasy XVI are timed exclusives. They will come to Xbox at one point.

Yes, make PlayStation miss out on games in every genre they care about. It’s very doable for MS. The way Sony behaves with the ABK-deal, they deserve it.

After that happens, they won’t care about them. They will be onto the next set of beliefs.

Just as an FYI, Sony didn’t moneyhat From Software games. They were funded, published, and co-developed by Sony (the IPs also belong to Sony which is why Demon’s Souls Remake isn’t by From).

After Elden Ring I think the price of moneyhatting a From game has reached astronomical levels.

Yeah, but for every such mandated shift from the Church, they will lose followers. Eventually all that is left is the die hard fanatics sitting in a dark corner foaming at the mouth, snarling at the world.

Dragons dogma 2 perfect moneyhat that no one would expect. Or black myth wukong.

This thread is about acquisitions people, not moneyhats

What about Nintendo?

People keep going on about SE like they make 0 games for nintendo
