Nice to see a game from main franchise than spin offs coming to Xbox for first time

SMT3HD, 13 Sentinels, Persona 5 Strikers, and the Persona Dancing (at least P4D) games would be pretty nice too alongside Catherine FB.

P5 Strikers feels like such a weird omission these days. Would have thought there would be a game pass deal bringing it over by now.

Does Strikers fit the Royal timeline ? Like is there content from Royals in Strikers like Kasumi.

From what I recall, there isn’t anything that makes it not canon… it just doesn’t reference anything from Royal.

So maybe we’ll just get a rerelease of it with Royal content and call it a day. lol

You mean the original version of SMTV? I have.

Its fun. I think the story kinda falls apart a bit at times and the performance on Switch is questionable at times. The turn-based combat is pretty fun though and there are some cool set pieces.

Also, just like any other ATLUS game, the soundtrack is an absolute banger. I’m kinda excited to see play through the new stuff.

With that said, SMT3 and SMT4 are usually the two people seem to love most. I played 3 last year and thought it was solid. Really hoping to get to 4 and 4A at some point this year.

Is this game like the ‘Royal’ version of SMTV or something else?

That’s probably the best way to put it. I haven’t dug into too much of the details, but we are getting new story content, at least one new character, and some QOL stuff.

It looks like we’re supposedly getting 80 hours out of the two new chapters… which I find hard to believe, but I suppose its entirely possible. lol

Dexerto lists this out for features:

  • A new Da’at
  • A new dungeon
  • New quests
  • Ally demons now have unique skills
  • Over 40 new demons
  • Auto-battle
  • Two brand new DLC chapters
  • All previous DLCs included in the base game
  • Nintendo Switch owners of the original Shin Megami Tensei V can carry over data of up to three demons to Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance’s Demon Compendium

Yes, from what I’ve read the new vengeance story they were taking about is an additional route which you can pick at the start of the game rather than SMT Deep Strange Journey stuff which is added throughout the existing story they added to the 3DS version or SMT IV Apocalypse which is a different story that takes place while SMT IV is going on and changes the plot.

For those who don’t know, these games have different routes, usually just lawful (not good), chaos (not evil), and neutral. You hit a point in the story when you have to side with one faction (or are made to based on your actions thus far) and have to fight/obtain exclusive demons. To fill out the compendium, you’d have to New Game+ through all the routes.

@Thebaconlife There are some things that might put you off, like the pretty empty open world maps or the difficulty or the tone. I would try III (Switch/PS/Steam) or IV (3DS) first since those are cheaper.

I’ve already purchased SMTV for my Switch, but hated the shoddy performance. Definitely will look into this!

More. Royal had more content but the ps4 vanilla version was still a grest version of that game.

We have a scenario where the base game ran like dog shit on switch

So this is almost a brand new game and with tons of new content.

This should include the additional difficulties and boosters from my understanding. So I wouldn’t necessarily say difficulty should be an issue for this one.

Totally missed difficulty changes, my bad! I guess you could still apply the warning to the series in general, III has that notorious boss fight

This series is what taught me to Save Early, Save Often and rotate my saves. And by taught me to I mean tortured me into.

No you’re good! From the verbage it looks all DLC from the vanilla version will be included in the base game, which should include the extra difficulties and the different modifiers for XP and such.
