Sega and Microsoft to create an Alliance

Nobody wanna develop for the best selling console on earth? The stuff one has to read here.

Let’s face it the XBox One did so bad outside of the UK and USA, they were little point in Atlus bringing their games were are sometimes a little niche to a console that sold poor in many countries. Hopfully with great demand for the Series consoles, this won’t be a issue going forward.

SEGA also tend to make some crazy calls mind and I love the corp.

I’m not sold on this theory, as I said, with the same reasonment Yakuza would have never arrived and Atlus even supported the platform before, RGG didn’t.

I am sure the Yakuza studio said they wanted to get better sales for Judgement that was the main reason for them looking to go on the PC and Xbox starting with the Yakuza games. Atlus games are pretty niche in their appeal and I would imagine they just felt it didn’t make much sense to bother to port their games to the Xbox

Sadly I think SEGA felt the same with Sakura Wars, a shame too. It’s a marvellous RPG that looks and plays great. I would imagine more of SEGA and Atlus games will be multiplatform, going forward

I feel it’s more a FF-like situation, Sony publicly said Persona IP is important for PS legacy and this is the outcome. Even for FF there is no public word, but we all know the ordeal.

And you could say the same for Yakuza and a lot of games that’s started life on and sold well on SONY consoles like Tekken. I just think the One sold so poor in Japan and in most of Europe that Atlus didn’t think they would have sold many games on the One. It’s a lot different now with the Series X, I think its already done better than the One in less than a year in Japan and SEGA’s seen how well the Yakuza games have done on Gamepass

I would like to hope Atlus next big game will be on the Xbox and PC along with the Playstation. SEGA really needs to go completely multiplatform for all its games.

Once again from the horse’s mouth regarding this Alliance

“When we announced the concept of Super Game, Microsoft was sympathetic to that vision and that leads to the announcement this time.

“About this, we are not talking about releasing games to Microsoft exclusively, but rather to develop Super Game that will be delivered to the world together, with their technical support.”

The Japanese publisher has committed to a new ‘super game’ initiative this year, a mid to long-term strategy aimed at creating a “major global title” focusing on the pillars of “global”, “online”, “community” and “IP utilization”.

This has nothing to do with xbox.

Release date is May 17th and Gamepass Day 1. Not surprised at all.

I’m beginning to think Sonic Frontier will be on Game Pass day one and that will be their greatest test yet.

Maybe it doesn’t. But This deal is bringing MS and Sega closer together and Sega feels comfortable putting so many of their games on GP Day 1. Maybe getting all the Sega games on Gamepass are just seperate deals but like I said we win because we are getting all Sega games on GP  so this is the result I wanted anyways.

That’s a holiday release, right? Man if it is I’m going to be hard pressed to pull myself away from Starfield but I’d have to support that.

I’ll quick resume it. I’m a Sonic fan since childhood and despite all of their shortcomings (rough times), this I will support.

Thats not true. Sega dont own anything. In the 5 years they’ve owned stlus they’ve had 0 control. Atlus have done their own shady bizarre business. If sega were in control. Persona 5 gets a switch and pc port by now.

Exactly. Nothing to do with exclusive games. But making that partnership better so we get more multiplats.

But not atlus. Because sega has no control over atlus or its IPs.

SEGA does own Atlus. And not ever game from SEGA themselves comes on the switch or PC, case in point the PS4 Sakura Wars

that would be a ballsy move one i would love but we’ll see

Idk what’s the deal with Atlus. Sometimes Atlus will publish games themselves. Other times Sega will publish them. And there randomness at selecting when games release on certain platforms just makes no sense.

Going by the publisher information on my Switch for SMT V, it says Sega published it. Their logo is also in the game. The actual box has Atlus on it though.

Time to give an up on this thread.

Also time to ask Sega and Xbox to make Alpha Protocol available again. The game isn’t eventually backwards compatible

So the Like a Dragon 8 trailer is in either Hawaii or Florida and this is symbolic of Sega coming from Japan to the US. Sonic in season 5 of Halo Infinite confirmed.

Also, I hope LAD 8 comes to GamePass. I’ll buy it either way but still.
