Seems too soon for the portable tease, but thinking back to Scorpio I suppose it’s possible.
The shadow drop could be Flight Sim 2024. Wasn’t it originally targeted for this summer?

Looks like he keeps posting stuff lol
Hope that portable is true. All the gaming I need is my Series X, Switch 1 and 2, and this rumored Xbox portable.
Imagine Gears collection. That would be a smart shadow drop that doesn’t need a marketing build up.
If this rumored portable can side load steam and play Xbox games well that’s a good deal especially if there is a next gen more powerful console as well it almost makes up for no exclusives if 99% of all games can be played on one device
While I think that shadowdropping is usually a bad idea financially, people really shouldnt use HiFi as a measuring stick.
Beyond the reality that it is a relatively niche genre, there is an absolutely massive difference in shadowdropping a game in January and shadowdropping a game during the typically biggest show of “E3”. There is a huge difference in both live eyeballs and media reporting.
I dont see how they can sell it against a Steamdeck if its locked to the Xbox store. Steamdeck hs free multiplayer and Playstation games, plus Xbox games.
If shadow dropping is bad for business, Xbox wouldnt do it.
I appreciate the spoiler free title to this thread. I actually avoided this thread because I didn’t want to be but changed my mind. Appreciate the fact that I could decide.
Maybe this discussion deserves its own thread but I really like the idea of a pseudo-shadow drop where the game is announced for a release in 1 month with a free demo available today.
You get the best of both worlds.
Immediate excitement for people to download something and try it. To possibly fall in love with it. To stream it and share clips of it.
At the same time giving people a chance to pre-order it if it comes with pre-order goodies or a discount. Giving marketing a chance to rev up to a hyped launch date. To include marketing quotes or clips from popular streamers + media after they’ve played the demo.
Plus, Xbox (or Nintendo or PlayStation) could hypothetically put such demos behind a Game Pass (or equivalent) paywall. So if the full game is a month or two away, you would actually acquire some subs from the announcement.
Sure it’s not an immediate release but it compares so well to all the announcements that we’ve heard years before release. It even compares well to June announcements for Fall games. A one month wait feels nearly immediate. And with a demo available it gives people that rush when they’re able to go home and download something fresh to play immediately.
Though I’d expect it to be able to sideload the Steam store, I do think just an Xbox handheld on it’s own would be a stronger offering than a Steamdeck. The Steamdeck is cool but it is still more PC and there are still many games that aren’t playable on it. I think an Xbox handheld would play just like the console and would have the same library.
I do think this event will be seen by millions and will be enough marketing for any shadow Drop though I would think a multiplayer game would be best for shadow drop or rather stealth drop.
It would be supercool to see FFIX remake at the showcase.
We’re getting a Blue Dragon remake. I’d just like to know who is doing it. If Hironobu Sakaguchi is involved that could mean something new could also be in the works.
It’s a remake, so likely some random porting studio that isn’t notable at all.
No way does Sakaguchi waste any of his time on a remake as he approaches retirement. I think within the last couple of years he said his next game would likely be his last.
Is it a remaster or remake. I just think there could be more to it as I would think the idea of other rpgs could be in the works. Also, I thought Sakaguchi met with Phil Spencer some time ago. I still want Cry On dammit.
So the rumors are not for a new BD game?
Well, I think most assumed it was for a remake/remaster. I guess nothing has said that definitely.
Man this is so true. I had a couple friends tell me that they just weren’t into rhythm games and how that was a big turn off for them and just refused to play this game. A shame really.
