over the years I’ve began following numerous gaming podcasts Xbox era was the first gaming podcast I got into and I now listen 6/7 gaming podcasts a week covering both PlayStation and Xbox as I have both and I do really enjoy them as it’s good to hear differing opinions on things from people in both communities
But I have found myself noticing lately that there are gaps in certain podcasts that due games I may be into when discussing news,
For example a game may be delayed lets says it’s JRPG and that’s covered but then another like football manager 2025 gets delayed which is the biggest football management sim out there and doesn’t get a mention.
I wondered is this because these podcasts simply aren’t interested in this type of game or they don’t have a particular knowledge of these types of games.
Or is it believed there isn’t the audience for this type of game discussion.
Also what I what I would like to see in all these podcasts is rather than doing just weekly news podcasts which are great
But I addition to those, I wish they’d do podcasts which are topical. I find the best parts of podcasts are when the hosts go off on the tangents regarding certain topics.
For example Nick when he may go on a gaming related tangent, whether it may be discussing a specific console from the past or even generation and I end up thinking ahh I was enjoying that tagent before he’s made to come back on topic & I understand it’s just to time.
So this made me think, why doesn’t anyone do podcasts where one good topic is discussed
For example
Studios that are no longer with us. A discussion of studios and their games that have unfortunately gone by the wayside like Midway for example.
Or
A specific console generation say the 5th discuss all the libraries discuss each high point and the business decisions around that made it what it was.
I understand it may require a bit of research to keep the structure of the podcast but I think there may be audience for that.
