Need to focus on producing, just keep things nice in here please. Thank you!
We know (from Grubb) that MS did math and found theyâd be down 500 million by making Bethesda games exclusive. What do you think that number is for COD?
No, tâs not the same.
With Zenimax they bought a car.
With Activision they bought the whole damn dealership.
Your analogy doesnât work, Zenimax is also a publisher.
The lamguage in the og post is so unclear that anything could happen. No matter what peiple think, I still think there is a chance it only means that okder titles that are there already will stay there until the end of the agreements in place and beyond. There is no mention of furure titles, and I do believe there is a high chance that anything beyond that could be exclusive.
The one thing that makes me someone hesitant is the mentio lf them treating this like Minecraft, and as we all know, newer Minecraft games released on all platforms, so its hard to say.
Cant wait to know more, but im aomehow 50/50 right now when it comes to future exclusive titles in the COD franchise.
But if the Fruit Loops are discontinued and the companys new Fruit Circles Ultimate is the replacement, people will buy.
Dammit Mort lol
There is differences between publishers.
Activision is the most valuable publisher in the world.
I wouldnât compare them to publishers like Devolver Digital.
Everyone presumed MS was making CoD exclusive, then in that broader context Phil tweeted to clarify saying the opposite. Brad Smithâs blog post directly cited how many were still believing Phil was misleading everyone somehow, and made the point to clarify himselfâŚand now ppl are trying to twist his words as if they have a meaning antithetical to the plain English reading of them. There is a world of difference between saying âthe words used can be taken out of context and contorted to imply X is not trueâ and âthe plain English reading of what were ostensibly clarifying statements says X is trueâ.
And there isnât wiggle room when making assurances to Congress and the FTC. The language is not vague. Nor was Philâs language. People are just twisting the meaning of words to fit what they want to hear and then declaring that this is 4D chess when it really isnât.
Youâre overthinking everything honestly. But weâll just let it rest.
Why would they? They have a billion dollar franchise, and they know they have a billion dollar franchise becausw they just spent 68 of them to get a hold of Activision. Theyâre not out here planning to pull the olâ switcheroo and trick everyone and walk away with a big exclusive franchise for themselves by just renaming it- I think they genuinely want Call of Duty to be multiplatform. It brings in huge amount of money on both platforms, it can retain absolute dominance by staying on both platforms but they can lure people over with the promise that Xbox is the best place to be if you like Call of Duty. This whole situation is a win for Xbox, and I wouldnât be surprised to see this logic applied if they ever pick up other major franchises.
Im just saying you don't spend 7.5 B to acquire Bethesda and keep things the same

Hope those that disagree listen to the episode to truly understand my POV https://t.co/gLDnRvJRCz
Blizzard revenue is almost all PC, King is mobile, but I can see them losing more than 1 billion a year on this. Looking at revenues from 2020, 2.7 Billion were from consoles (If I got the numbers right). Switch must be a minority in this and Playstation must at the very least the half if not more, so maybe 1.6 Billion a year? And thats not accounting for potential new customers in the Xbox ecosystem as well as more Gamepass subscriptions.
I think Phil should do it!
After contracts are over, MS titles will be available on all platforms where gamepass is available.
Its up to Playstation and Nintendo if they want the huge catalog of exclusives on their platforms or not. Microsoft has come to the table with this offer, its not their fault if their âdesireâ is rejected.
The Zenimax purchase was made for an entirely different purpose than ABK. The former was made for boosting GPâs lineup. ABK is being bought for much larger reasons related to the Metaverse and big tech competition.
Discontinue CoD???
Thank god nobody of you runs Xbox
No no, you donât understand - itâs a confusion tactic you use on your opponents. You cancel one of the most profitable gaming franchises in the world for absolutely no reason and then you strike. Itâs the pocket sand of the business world, they never see it coming.
Until Microsoft explicitly states in writing âwe will release all future Call of Duty releases on other platformsâ, there is no definitive answers. It is very easy to argue that âkeeping call of duty on playstationâ refers to existing games.
While I do expect the CoD and some other activision games to be multiplat going forward, letâs not pretend the wording doesnât help make things crystal clear
Itâs perfectly reasonable based on their wording why Nick is interpreting it the way he does
Thereâs a world of difference between what Ryan said about Bungie and what MS have said about CoD/ABK
I would cancel call of duty and let them all work on Elder Scrolls.
