[PLEASE READ STAFF POST] Microsoft says they have committed to Sony that they will keep Call of Duty and other titles on Playstation "beyond the existing agreement and into the future so that Sony fans can continue to enjoy the games they love."

By 2024 with Game Pass reigning supreme and a lot of people playing the game on XCloud and PC, who will care about that? Sony will have bunch of live service games by that time too and COD won’t be annual franchise either…

I would say Microsoft should strike the iron while it’s hot and grab another publisher. Then say another non-statement like “we will keep Monster Hunter available” and voila.

P.S. can we remove that 30 minutes waiting? I think people have run out of fuel for warring

I’ve reverted to a mindset of wait and see… not worth the energy in regards to giving much thought to this until the acquisition is actually completed in 2023 (which will probably be the best year ever for Xbox first party in any case).

Well said Nick. I posted the same take in the previous thread. If you read what is actually said in the statement it absolutley says nothing about new titles and could all very well be in reference to current titles on the platform.

We will only really know once the deal goes through and Im sure they will do another roundtable at that point.

Yeah, we’ll see where things are going then with this. I just hope we get some more interesting acquisitions before then, less megacorp shitshows like Acti-Blizz and more good studios for XGS/Bethesda.

STARFIELD, Mort, STARFIELD…

Maybe even Avowed is released before this acquisition is done.

This deal will be finished by autumn or december. Avowed is not coming until the next year.

Yeah I deleted my comment because I had forgotten to look up and saw that you explained it all already.

I’ve been reading all your comments on this and yeah, you definitely got a point. The wording absolutely isn’t crystal clear, certainly not as clear as Bungie last week. They pretty much said Destiny and future games will stay multiplatform and wasn’t it even Jim Ryan who specifically said rival consoles?

Xbox wording is definitely way more muddy, unclear and up for several interpretations, true!

But I wonder, could it also because before a deal is closed they are not allowed to make a definitive statement like “All existing ABK and future games will come to PS and Switch” or the opposite, or not really?

Probably not because we did have Sony pretty much confirming everything stays as it is with Bungie. But the difference here is that they use this wording on purpose, a definitive statement would make passing through of this deal harder, right?

Well, I’m taking into account the original timeline they suggested… which was mid 2023.

Yes, more studios capable of Starfields than cAlL oF duTys please.

No, the original timeline is June 2022 - June 2023. The deal supposed to be finalized within that period.

The main problem is that all these studios will be still bound to all that Call of Duty mess with the support for Warzone and Warzone 2 and other COD games without chances to make something news for the next couple of years. Sony is partially complicit even in that regard I guess.

Ok, whatever… I’m of the mindset now it’s done when it’s done.

I’ll give thought to it then.

Yes, this acquisition is MEH on most levels. That’s why I hope other, good, acquisitions are not off the table because of this crap.

Tbh, there is no other studio capable of delivering a true Bethesda style RPG… apart from Obsidian…

This acquisition was a huge opportunity to Microsoft. Only T2+Zynga is on the same level in that regard. But ATVI is even better with all that stuff they have.

Haha, true.

A lot of neat features come from the Creation Engine that BGS uses. Even The Outer Worlds did not feel the same as BGS games.

If they fix Activision Blizzard they have some insane talent and incredible IPs to work with. That’s the main hope for me.
