PlayStation 5 price to increase in Europe, Australia, and NZ

Stupid euro politicians and their tariffs forcing sony to raise prices. Oh wait, nevermind…

Yep it’s pretty telling that the one market they don’t touch the price of too much is the one market Xbox are particularly competitive in, despite the tariff turmoil…

Any PlayStation fans that want the ā€œdeathā€ of Xbox really haven’t thought it through, every market or generation where Sony have been dominant they raise prices and rest on their laurels…

Poor takes blaming Xbox for rising prices.

Well can we blame them for raising the price again? Sony has been arrogant and greedy AF since 2020 and people still reward them with strong sales.

As long as the consumers are going blind like sheep and buy ā€œit’s PLAYSTATION dude, it’s the best!ā€ and ignore the other much better option in the console gaming space because they are too busy to do a little research then good for Sony! they are milking the dumb sheep dry! they are doing their job just fine. :man_shrugging:

Seems a lot of people in comment sections on Reddit, BBC News and many other sources are realising this could be a move to up prices in the rest of the world so the USA prices can be increased by less than the tariffs - basically getting the rest of the world to subsidise the US consumers from the impact of the tariffs.

It’s been suggested Apple will do the same, in order to prevent buyers just ordering from Europe / Canada or even travelling there to buy products.

There’s righteous anger and indignation - I already don’t buy anything from either company but if they or any others do it they can guarantee they’ve lost my business for the rest of my life.

If the USA wants to play silly twats, best of luck to them - but they won’t learn and think differently next election (if a fair one is ever called again) if they’re cushioned from the worst of it by companies making the rest of the world pay the price (impacting our economies hard instead).

Fuck that shit - do that and die you bastard companies, capitalism is already fucked (privatise profits but socialise losses) but spreading the pain from the orange twat to those of us who didn’t even have the option of participating in the election (sorry those in the USA, but at least you got to vote!) would be the final straw for many of us outside the USA…

PS5 price increases by Ā£40 as Sony cites ā€˜challenging’ conditions - BBC News

Guess I’m glad I already bought a PS5 since the price is only getting higher over time.

Price increases suck but it’s weird, despite prices getting higher, for me this generation ā€œfeelsā€ cheaper than ever. $500 for the Series X was a lot but it’s been 5 years already and the generation looks to still be going strong for a while. I’ve got more AAA games than I can play, many either included in my Game Pass subscription or bought for $20 or less. :man_shrugging:

It sucks that this is how Sony and likely Nintendo are going response to tariffs. But I can’t say I will be surprise if Microsoft does it down the line, like how they said games needed to be $70 after holding off for a bit.

What is Xbox going to raise price on in Europe? Stock is non-existent in some countries. In my country it’s either over $800 or refurb/used one from Amazon.
