Staying with $500 for the Digital Edition and $600 for the Disc Edition. Second guess would be $400 and $600.
The ssd size is a technical thing. It either had to be 825 or 1.65. Just the way the memory itās composed of works.
Either way count me among those who figure if the PS5, any version, was 399 weād know about it by now. I expect the two versions to land between 449 and 549. 599 if theyāve lost their minds and are looking for PS3 v2.

Iād just be really surprised at 399. I donāt understand why MS would make an Xbox Series S at all if it only bought them a $100 advantage over a similar digital version of a PS5. To get that 299 price point MS apparently is taking a substantial loss, cutting the GPU down to 1/3rd size, cutting the ssd size in half etc. I donāt really believe a disk drive loss and the promise of digital sales got them to 399 and the rest of those compromises were for another 100.
So I figure either they goofed and the series S was supposed to be cheaperā¦ or that proprietary PS5 ssd is expensive as hell and the digital version is to get them an acceptable āstarting atā price.
Given that one manufacturer is seemingly confident enough to go first, leaks and all. And the other is staying quiet Iām betting on the expensive ssd theory. Basically if it was good news Sony would already be talking about it. Just like how we know their ssd speeds but not their lowest CPU/GPU clocks or system ram allocation. They keep bad news close to their chest.
itās hard for me to believe that a disc-less version will reduce the price by 100. i can believe 50, but not 100.

Iām with you on this one. If ps5de was going to be $399 they would have just announced it already. Jeff grub also said that Microsoft is taking a hit on the series x and an even bigger one on the series S. I donāt think sony will take a hit on the console they have brand recognition it will sell out even at 599

Yeah indeed they would have said it otherwise. Just look, take in account their ssd tech the controller features and the cooling system plus the packaging due to its large volume and costs rising up significantly.
I think they are affraid of 599 number due to PS3 that is why I think they will land on 549. The DE at 499 allows them to stay in the price range with MS and find a new customer segment.
Iām not sure what it is, but I just feel like Sony is hiding something. They havenāt shown a real life console or a physical mock up, they havenāt even shown a full half of the thing in the renders. We donāt know what any of the insides look like either, but I will give them that one as being uncommon. Theyāve also been kinda iffy on some of other console features like BC. Their invitation only pre order thing was kinda odd, not sure what to think there. The usual insiders are quiet, no āhey just wait for it 
ā hints that Iāve seen.
It just feels off, Iām just not getting a surprise! itās good news vibe from this. Sony doesnāt even need any bombshell news, they just need to meet the basic expectations and people will be jumping for joy.

This is the best case scenario for MS and I really hope this is what happens, would really help even things out this gen for them.
I somehow doubt MS priced the X knowing Sony would undercut them by 100$ with the DE. I have a feeling they have an idea of how much Sonyās system will cost and priced theirs accordingly taking a hit on profitability but making sure they wonāt be overpriced compared to the competition.

Yep if they waited this long it is not for nothing. Price is gonna be high otherwise they would have tag it everywhere and parade with itā¦
Either they are waiting for a maximum impact wave of info all in one, or they hide something since we didnāt see a lot of the consoleā¦
Well the machine is absolutely huge from that picture of someone holding one coming off the assembly line all those Xbox One is huge jokes dont even prepare people for the size of this thing. As a modern console especially since MS have made two smaller machines it looks clunky.
Then we come to heat and sound. I think Sony were truly caught off guard by MS getting to 12tf. I notice Sony use the overclocked number, so things dont look so bad. But that thing must kick out some serious heat. Third party games are going to be interesting to see as I imagine the PS5 will possibly have to kick into overclock mode on more strenuous games to keep up. Could be bad in head to heads.
Also Iām curious why Sony have offered no tech sites a breakdown of the machine in action and yeah its covid. But are you telling me they cant have one couriered over to digital foundry or have them go to the Sony offices?
Something smells very funny. I guess weāll find out if they finally show up this week.

Man it is so insane I am mind blown how MS engineering team made a console far more powerfull, more silent and smaller than PS5 without even talking about Series S which is crazy tiny and beautiful for these specs and price, incredible value unbeatable. Sony must be shook hard with this price.
PS5 must be way more expensive with such a big cooling system due to overclocking and heat dissipationā¦where is the teardown Cerny?
Sony counting on its brand recognition and install base loyalty but business is business you know people can swap easy quick as soon as it is better on the other sideā¦It is really good to have a fierce competition, heat coming from MS especially one Sony 25 year birthday lol MS is great as a challenger.
