Did Skill up give it great review?
I ask because he seems to be going consisently against the grain lately

Yes. Highly recommended and he gushes about the game.
Because it’s a retcon. Watch the final scene of the first game on YT, that’s clearly a “I know” look she gave to Joel. They changed her facial expressions in the flashback in TLOU2. TLOU1 was a game designed not to have any sequels, so they had to change some stuff when they eventually decided to make one.
That’s good. He’s such a thorough reviewer and makes some great review videos
Sometimes though I notice everyone being luke warm to not liking a game, then he just loves it. Then the next time it’s a game being universally adored and he fricken hates the damn thing. Which is normally fine, but it happens so much with him I’m made to wonder…is he just TRYING to be the oddball here
Yeah, he is. He’ll sometimes have hour long review videos. Freaking insane.
I don’t think that he’s the oddball. Like with majority, some games resonate and some don’t. I normally watch him, ACG, Mr Matty Plays, Jayvee, JorRaptor for video reviews and Angry Joe but he tends to be later on after I finish the game. lol. But he’s funny sometimes.
So R&C - performance RT mode is something else. Have never seen such a pretty game before - Insomniac are wizards. Ready for more actual next-gen experiences now
Yeah, PRT mode is said to be the overall best mode. I’m installing the disc now but probably won’t play until later today or tomorrow. Just want it setup. Insomniac is awesome. Hope you’re enjoying the game thus far.
Played on and off today - watching the super regionals and “working”. Game is amazingly fun, as well as a looker!
Nice. I’ll be playing tomorrow for a few hours before the Ubisoft/Gearbox showcases. Hyped!!!
Played Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart for just over 4 hours completing the first planet/world and it was damn good. Visually, it looks superb. Audio wise, music is great, voice acting is good and the sound effects are solid. Gameplay and combat wise, feels very fluid and responsive. Platforming feels good and being able to get to other areas by using what you have accessible to you is so satisfying. Enjoying the story and characters thus far as well. Playing on the hardest difficulty level Renegade Legend and I have died around 10+ times already. Can’t seem to dodge lasers for shit. lol. Rifts that are predetermined story wise is cool as are the rifts that just pull you to an area but the best ones are the pocket dimensions where it’s like a mini-section to get through. Also, there was one rift that I had no idea what it was for but finally figured it out which led me to a Gold Bolt. Overall, shaping up to be an excellent game thus far.
Still hard to buy a ps5 at RRP. Not going to go out of my way to get one though. God of War being delayed has made that easier. Rachet looks cool. But even if I had a ps5 I’d gamefly it or try and borrow it off someone. Not spending 70 bucks.
Is sony pursuing the correct strategy?
They seem to have a console first strategy, inticing people to buy there consoles by having games come later or not ar all to PC + cloud.
To me this seems like such a backwards strategy. Why focus on a console installbase of up to 100 million, when console, ios, android + TVs (via cloud) and PC has an installbase in the billions?
I think people are mistaken when they think sony are only about the console, sony wants the extra customers cloud and PC will bring but they are fearfull of alienating the current fanbase and dont have the resources to expand to billions of cloud + pc gamers.Sony would be really bad at business to limit themselves to the small market that is consoles.
Sony is simply hiding all this in plain sight… They were ahead of the Xbox when it came to Streaming. Still are because they offer 1080 stream.
There current business is going good therefore they aren’t as proactive as Microsoft.
We have already seen them taking u-turns and this one is the obvious one
Sony is just good at telling the fans what they want to hear. Not even that actually, they just pander to the internet fanboy crowd. We “believe in generations” was just some low hanging fruit to score points with a set of people spinning Xbox’s cross generation message into something negative.
Sony is going to bring games to PC, they are going to have streaming services, they will do their version of Game Pass, all while still implying they are only about consoles and exclusives. For example they are still all about riding that “we are the console for niche Japanese games” narrative that is popular on the internet, but in action they are very AAA western focused.
I guarantee they will be following along the market trends.
So I beat Ratchet and Clank Rift Apart last night after playing it on and off for less than 2 days, so it does seem a little short for $70 especially. It does look and play great, and I used the Performance RT mode which seems like the right one as 30 FPS is just not right for this game in terms of fluid gameplay or visual blurring when moving by comparison to 60 FPS. I did like it, but it was probably about an 8/10 for me as I probably preferred the Ratchet and Clank 2016 remake better than this one to be honest. The graphics are great (although Forza Horizon 5 looks to beat this one IMO now), but the rift mechanics did feel a little “gimmicky” to be honest most of the time. I ended up agreeing with much of this review from a PlayStation site even though it was harsher than my own opinion after playing it.
Yes
PS is coming across as insecure with some of these bizarre partnership announcements from names you’ve never heard of despite contracts seemingly having been signed the day of shouting from the rooftop about them. I’ve never seen them acting like this.
How is the gameplay overall? The bashing boxs/enemies, shooting rinse repeat does grow repetitive for me, does the entire game break it up well? With puzzels, clank sections etc? Whats the story like is it like the movie, or reach deeper depths like pixar movies do? Thanks.
The game is pure R&C mania. I love this series, and the game melts eyeballs.
I agree, It does seem that Sony isn’t willing to disrupt their current business model. Microsoft clearly doesn’t have this problem as long as there is a long term strategy. But Sony seems to be focused on the short term gain over long term strategy, this is what I see from them.
They were the first major player to invest in Cloud gaming and they squandered that opportunity to be a major player in the Cloud Gaming market. But I think this is all because Sony cannot operate cloud gaming at scale that MS can and do it sustainably,
