PlayStation 5 |OT| This SSD has no limits

Shouldn’t you wish them to change focus and not close a studio?

No matter what the different SOCs are, the crux of the shade remains the same. We’ve been told for four years that different powerful envelopes will and is holding back gaming.

But all shenanigans aside, I’d lean toward haldheld of some sort myself.

They think like this without realizing that AAA SP games are not going to pop out of nowhere if Sony decides to slow down on their live-service push.

I agree, but there’s a loud group that want these games to fail because they feel betrayed by Sony. Logcically, if games perform well then that will result in less pressure on other studios

Doesn’t matter if it’s different SOCs. It’s still two separate SKU’s the company is trying to sell to the consumer.

The complaints come from a lower end console holding back the higher end one. So different SKUs isn’t really relevant.

There is no real reason Sony would have two different socs other than to have different performance targets

You can literally watch people changing their opinions in real time.

“Microsoft had the right idea but it was just too early, Sony will do it at the right time”

“Sony will succeed because they have better hardware designers”

“Sony is the market leader so they can force devs to develop for two consoles even if they don’t like it” (loooool at this one, what happened to support what the devs want?)

I saw one that said something like “Xbox doesn’t have Mark Cerny”. The bizarre cult like circlejerk around that guy is baffling. He is responsible for the two most milquetoast pieces of hardware Sony has ever made.

Don’t get me wrong, the guy is clearly intelligent. But nothing about the PS4 or PS5 is revolutionary or innovative enough to deserve the absurd praise.

There shouldn’t be any complaints because we don’t know if that’s true. I know people are poking fun at this possibly being a Series X/S situation but the difference is that Series X/S obviously exists while what PlayStation 6 will be isn’t known yet.

Dude… I can’t with your constant moving goalposts. The moment you’ve lost the argument, you pretend the argument was about something else entirely to begin with. It’s exhausting as a mod…

You’re right. I was wrong. Apologies.

Also I’m not sure if it’s just me but there’s something a little bit ‘off’ with him.

In that latest PS5 Pro demonstration he literally come across like some kind of cyborg or deefake AI. I can’t put my finger on it but he kind of gave me the creeps.

His counterpart Jason Ronald is completely the opposite and actually comes across almost too down to earth.

makes sense

If Sony releases a PS6 S this would be highly entertaining. And a bit sad because sooooo many devs will be held back

I really wanted the PS4 version even though I had the PS4 so I couldn’t really justify it.

But since I don’t have a PS5 I think this model would be the best one to jump in with. The regular PS5, not the pro.

But I wish there was a PS5 Pro that looked like this and had full HW backwards compatibility with the 1, 2, and 3. If they sold it at $1,000, I’d consider that fair. It would be an enthusiast machine and not something meant to sell in the millions. Though I can see it cracking a million in sales.

It’s stupid because as PC gaming grows the lower end Spec’d pc’s are going to hold thing back more then the S would.

All these stupid arguments are proving to just be false fanboy noise.

Maybe they are not at equal levels for now. I do think if rumors are correct then it won’t take 5 to 10 years to see PlayStation games on Xbox. If the next Xbox hardware has an open garden and practically opens to PC and all digital platforms on it. It could pretty much have every game that’s on PC.

more information about Concord disaster

Colin says he spoke to an employee of Firewalk and came up with the following information:

  • The game cost more then $400 million, not including the cost of acquiring the team
  • By the time the game reached the alpha stage in 2023, it had cost about $200 million,
  • After the acquisition, Sony paid another $200 million to polish the game because it was in poor condition and external teams were hired
  • The game is considered the largest game Sony has presented in terms of material cost "it cost more than Spider-Man 2
  • The game made $1 million before Sony cancelled it and refunded everyone
  • People inside Sony saw this game as the “future of PlayStation” and believed it would be the “Star Wars of PlayStation”
  • There was a “toxic positivity” atmosphere towards the project from the team leaders so that everything was viewed positively by the leadership and the employees were forbidden to criticize anything
  • The game was Hermen Hulst’s baby and he was the main driver behind the project and promoter for Sony
  • Sony has first and second party projects under development that cost more than Concord
  • Colin is confident in the information and the source

I hope I have summarized the information and I hope I have not forgotten anything.

$400 million just seems beyond the realm of reasonable possibility for a game of Concord’s scope? Like wouldn’t that put its budget on the level of Cyberpunk or GTA?

How can you even spend $200 million just on the polish phase?
