PlayStation 5 |OT| This SSD has no limits

Might change to some degree with Spartacus though.

As much as I would love to see Sony put their exclusives on their subscription service day one, I honestly don’t see it happening until next generation. I do however see Sony putting their exclusives on PC day one though before this generation ends. In fact, my prediction is for God of War Ragnarok to be the first game that does it.

Speaking of God of War Ragnarok, it seems like it was rated by the VGAR unless im misunderstanding it which is definitely possible.

Maybe. But from what was written about it, it seems more like rebranding and bundling of PS+ and PSNow. Guess we wait to see what their Spartacus is.

From what I read it was already clarified that there was not going to be day 1 titles. It is exactly as you stated a rebranding/bundling of PS+ and PSnow with a additional tier of catalog titles more akin to Nintendo Switch Online/expansion pass than Game Pass.

I am hoping that it’s Day 365 games lol

I can’t do math any higher than that. Day 1095?

I’m afraid of their commitment because when it comes to that, they are fickle. Vita died quick along with PSTV. PSNow is back to effortless after price drop hence no more boost numbers after the dip. Not to mention if this Spartacus is a reboot, goes to show you they have to rebrand. Granted, it’s probably for the best, but still. PS mobile is gone. This upcoming service better start really strong. With their disadvantage of no day one game and low money to spend in compare to Microsoft, they have to hit a home run in their first swing.

Their subscription service is supposedly going to be three tiers -

  • TIER 1 - PS Plus
  • TIER 2 - PS Plus, PS4 and PS5 games
  • TIER 3 - PS Plus, PS4, PS5, PS1 and PS2 games

At least, this is how I understood it. My price predictions is $10, $15 and $20 a month respectively. I also believe that the $60 PS Plus cards will be eliminated once this merging of PS Plus/PS Now occurs.

I hope the price is like that. Any higher would be “rant” level. They have to know what GP and GPU offerings before they can say, “It’s justifiable.” No day one is already bad enough, but what’s scare me is the fact they have been “very business” focus since the price hike and behind the scene antic (pay cross play). I seriously hope they know what they’re doing.

To be perfectly honest, unless there’s day one PS5 exclusives or at least AAA third party multi-platform games available on the service, even if it’s the $20 tier, I have literally no interest because I just don’t see any value to any of it and more importantly, there’s nothing there that I would want to play.

I believe that with PS Plus at over 45m subscribers and PS Now being around 3m or so, if anything, the merging is more to brag about higher subscription numbers despite the fact that wouldn’t really be the case as 90% will be in the $10 base subscription which as far as I know is PS Plus only.

I do think that they should put their lower tier exclusives day one on the service but even that, I doubt that Sony is going to do unless it’s a Destruction All Stars type disaster.

I can’t help but laugh at that thought of putting Destruction All Stars for the service as their hype catalyst. Imagine the trailer to hype that up. I mean I know they did State of Play for it, though might be hoping to sell their licensed first party online, so who knows what they will do.

I meant that DAS was on PS Plus day one when it released back in February/March because it wasn’t that good so that’s the only way I see other Sony games being on the service day one. I don’t see Sony putting their top tier exclusives day one at all.

I don’t understand the point of this new service. If you’re not going to release first-party titles day one, then you’d better bring the heat with third-party content, except there are two problems:

  1. PlayStation has a poor reputation with indies

  2. They’re not going to outbid Xbox on most content

I’m not seeing the viability here.

PS4 version of Ghost of Tshushima DC arrives today.

Between the original Horizon, GoT DC and Kena, I think that should hold me off to GoW.

Not purchasing HFW or GT7 until I finish HZD or GT Sport.

Unless GT7 proves to be a vastly better game as Sport is kind of so-so, even with a campaign.

A Sony version of EA Play (games 6-12 months past launch) would probably be pretty successful. I don’t know if they’ll do that though lol.

No interest in GT Sport/GT 7 but Kena, Horizon and Tsushima were great games. Hope you enjoy them Prog!!

Well I have to play 1st party games from SOMEONE for the 1st half of 2022.

EDIT: Yes I am aware Kena is not first party, but come on, Sony is totally putting a ring on EmberLab’s finger sometime in 2022 or 2023.

Haha. True.

Kena is awesome and im hoping Sony acquires Ember Lab. Perfect fit. Kena is my 4th best game of 2021.

I don’t, only because I’m a fanboy and the Green Box needs more studio numbers than the Blue console.

They do have more studios. It’s just PS studios were already in production ahead. It’s why the roadmap early on is stacked but down the road, it looks small. I hope they announced more soon and not just movie/comic titles. I want variety.
