Im thinking it is, and its being bundled with a completely remade TLOU
If Naughty Dog makes an open world version of TLOU that’s like The Division sign me up
Thats my mindset. TLOU remake to feature current gen assests
Like if it was just Factions, I think that would come out 2023,
God of War being delayed another year would be a disaster. They already showed gameplay its hard to see that happening.
Id say it will be exact same as Forbidden West, fully intends to be out Holiday period but Sony delay just to be sure.
If there’s issues sure.
Bluepoint should have something for 2024 or 2025, they are very efficient
My personal timeline is
Horizon Forbidden West- February 2022
Gran Turismo- Summer
God of War- October or early 2023
Factions/Remake mid 2023
Spiderman 2- late 2023
It hasn’t been delayed once/yet. They deliberately lied about the initial release target.
Okay but they delayed it out of the year they said it would release
God I’m so depressed by this. I’ve owned every PlayStation console and portable and something feels very wrong with this new PlayStation generation. From your list Last of Us / factions is a big nothing to me. Gran Turismo is bad, it’s strictly a bargain bin game. God of War looked dated and I can’t wait to watch the documentary on just what the hell happened there and why it looks so last gen. Horizon is probably fine, it should at least be a top 5 game next year… But man we are talking releases that cover 2021-late 2023. I 100% think Sony is content to not release very many games because the console is sold out. They don’t give 2 fucks about those of us that already have a PS5 and very few games to play. It’s not even necessarily the lack of games, but also the skipped E3’s, the lack of anything to be excited about besides this short list. Compared to Xbox’s announcements Sony has fallen completely on their face. Does anyone else have this uneasy dread when they stare at their dusty PS5? It’s just so boring compared to my last PlayStations.
I bet we see Factions at TGA and it might come out next year. But to Brit’s point, when Sony shows a release date, it doesn’t mean much anymore.
They also have to spend developer resources on producing new content for the eventual PSVR 2 product. I think that’s why their cabinets seem bare. Too much required to support niche products.
My favorite time to own a Playstation was late PS3 era Early PS4. They just felt so exciting and innovative. Uncharted 2 is one of my all time favorites and The Last of Us within a few years of that, it felt like Sony has struck gold. The 2013 E3 and the energy around that was awesome. I’m just not particularly excited by a lot of their studios or games right now. It seems like their studios are all on 5 year dev cycles besides Insomniac and there doesn’t seem like there’s much to look forward to in terms of true first party exclusives.
Sony had a strong launch and first half of 2021, Xbox had a strong second half of 2021. Sony will have a strong first half of 2022 as well, and Xbox appears to have a strong second half of 2022.
If you own both consoles, this is an amazing time to be gaming.
Does PS release a big game on the holidays? I can’t recall. They may have to change this now that Xbox is a threat. Last generation, they didn’t have to worry since Xbox barely release one. Now, they got this year stacked. The comfortability for them is over.
Well I admit that when you own multiple systems that there is always something to play, it’s just very disappointing whenever I stare in the direction of my PS5. I don’t necessarily want to unplug it or cover it with a dust cover because I have to turn it on once a month to claim my free ps plus games. I mean sure I will play Horizon but then it’s the waiting game until God of War comes out. Sony needs to go big this E3. I want to be excited about PlayStation again.
I’ll admit that I am having a bit of a different experience because I skipped PS4 so most of my PS5 time (all of it except for Ratchet and Miles) was spent playing ps4 games I missed.
If Redfall actually comes out by Spring, I’d say Xbox could have an overall great 2022 year. Sony’s 2022 year is still up in the air imo.
