They will do it like the “for the watch” scene on GoT

Only they will say “for the order” in the name of the Royal Order of Pegasus Nation

Can we knock it off with the cult shit? It’s really lame and it makes me embarrassed to be here. Stop worrying so much about what assholes think online that you feel you have to talk about them behind their backs.

To be pedantic, saying stuff on a public venue isn’t behind their backs.

I do agree with the premise of the point, that folks need to stop worrying about the assholes.

Technically correct! I’d say that they’re unlikely to come here and find out about it though. Which is part of why it rubs me the wrong way, it’s like locking yourself in your room and pretending you’re insulting a guy you know in the mirror.

Edit: but now that I think about it it’s even worse. This is the PlayStation 5 thread. Coming in here to talk shit about Sony fans is just really circle-jerky and pathetic.

Once Sony has a PC port ready for an exclusive via Nixxes whether that’s Horizon 2, God of War Ragnarok or whatever, they should just announce that it would be day one and move on. Basically, rip the band aid off in one motion as quickly as possible.

Sony should have also stayed with the $60 price tag. Not only would it have eliminated the stupid upgrade fee/difference but they would sell more copies. Selling under 600K copies of Returnal which is said to be a great game in general but a disappointing roguelike game is disappointing and im sure the higher price tag impacted sales.

I think only the top tier exclusives will sell great like Horizon, Spider Man, God of War, etc. but the rest, not so much.

I thought it was over the top enough to be seen as something that obviously isn’t a serious discussion/accusation

I guess not

Sony for quite some time now (but even more the last few years) tries to position themselves like having the superior 1st party studios that only release prestige big titles that are on a whole other level than the rest of the industry…the showing of their 1st party in the latest show with the separate segment in the end with Hurnst making an introduction (like really?) where they jerked off their own arrogance was quite telling…Jimbo thought that he could get away (and he did actually on the press side of things) with the 80 euros price point but it seems that their own fanbase doesn’t have any problem waiting for deep sales and playing BC titles which is quite normal considering that in the PS4 generation their 1st party games were at 20 euros a few months after launch. When you are used to something like that for 7 years it’s really hard to spend 80 euros on a game.

And the funny thing is that Jimbo has set the standards so high in terms of presentation in their games that the budgets will continue to be higher and higher this generation and expectations will be sky high from their fans…he dug a hole but it seems that they are falling into it. As you said PC releases day one could be a good solution to increase the income/sales…I honestly don’t see any other way.

Sony wants their games to sell for years on end at full price like Nintendo but they don’t have the IP for that. They’re basically stuck in the middle where they don’t have the desirable IP of someone they want to be (Nintendo) and don’t have infrastructure to scale and seriously compete in the subscription/cloud sphere (Xbox). So I think they’ll have to be a hybrid of both.

I agree with everything you said in general but for me personally, I do consider Sony’s exclusives to be the best in the industry as they simply give me what I prefer the most and until that changes, it’s going to stay that way.

The price should have stayed $60 but it is what it is. I don’t buy every game and im not a collector so a $70 game for someone else is $35 at most for me.

As for their showcase having four first party titles at the end, I think that had more to do with the fact that outside of the beginning, the showcase was lackluster with the middle being bad and boring. Three out of the last four games saved the showcase for me personally.

God of War Ragnarok is going to be amazing and while expected, Spider Man 2 could surpass the first game and has the potential to surpass Batman Arkham City. Then you add in Wolverine which is my favorite Marvel character by Insomniac. Oh hell yeah!!!

Jimbo should do day one on PC via Steam and EGS. It’s basically free money. I do believe this happens before the generation ends. Cloud is 50/50. Subscription and exclusives day one on PS+/PS Now, I don’t see happening until PlayStation 6 at the earliest.

Either way, whatever they do, they do. As long as they give me amazing blockbuster exclusives that I want to buy and play day one, I personally will be a happy PlayStation 5 gamer.

Couldn’t have said it any better myself.

I think that their IP’s is the least of their problems because they are definitely quite strong mindshare wise, the real problem is that last gen they “trained” their fanbase to just wait for 3-4 months to buy their games at 20e, it’s really hard to copy the price stability of Nintendo’s 1st party “overnight” while ALSO raise the prices. At least for now the attach rate for the PS5 is not looking good and considering we are in the first year of this generation where it’s the core audience who are the early adopters this will probably not bode well for Sony also in the long run IMO.

I guess we will see what their next steps will be because when the heavy hitters from MS arrive it’s gonna be even more difficult for Sony to justify those prices, curious to see how they will react to that. As @peter42O said day one on PC releases could be the easy answer/decision though. This generation is gonna be wild. :stuck_out_tongue:

" No, Jim Ryan, video games were popular in the Middle East long before PlayStation, from Famicom to Internet cafes, we’ve been enjoying games long before PlayStation hit our stores. For the full article:https://bit.ly/3AqVSOU"

Eh, I think he meant to say that there was no market presence there for console games before PSX, which is true as I understand it, but he just worded it poorly and exaggerated.

It is weird to me that this wasn’t just an off-the-cuff comment, it’s a promo video, and no one along the line stopped to say, we need another take of this line, the wording here is wrong.

I honestly feel bad for Jimbo after watching this interview:

he reminds me of myself sometimes, trying to look normal (despite being a weird introvert) but he’s really not a good speaker.

even in this interview, he unintentionally shat on the middle east, saying they didn’t have any gaming culture before PlayStation. :joy::joy::joy:

Damn , they are angry . There are some harsh comments in there :phil_lmao:

He doesn’t have a way with the camera like Phil Spencer does, but obviously he’s doing an amazing job for PlayStation so it’s whatever. I just wish he had a passion for retro games and BC like Phil does because the way PlayStation treats its own legacy is criminal.

I honestly think he has ZERO passion for gaming in general. not to say that he doesn’t have a passion for his job. because they’re two different things.

He’s a VERY good businessman, and with today’s tools of acquiring data, he won’t make many bad decisions on the big things. but when it comes to intricacies like keeping an old console store open or spending money on something that will probably never break even like backward compatibility he will always stay behind compared to the competition.

Man the way he talked about jumping flash was so funny :joy: I cringed so hard, and almost closed the tab out of embarrassment for him.

So, so tired of old white men treating us like savages. Ryan needs to realize he doesn’t have to give interviews and do promotional videos because he keeps putting his foot in his mouth. Just stick to your strengths and stop trying to talk into a camera dude, you’re bad at it.
