Phil Spencer shares intent to honour all previous agreements and desire to keep Call of Duty on PlayStation

ah my bad i read your post wrong haha, i thought they were talking about xbox.

It’s going to become more difficult for Sony to money-hat now that the entire industry is shook and see that Microsoft is positioning to be the leader. Two years ago, the predictions of the future likely looked quite different. Alienating Microsoft in the gaming space if you’re a publisher or developer better come with some serious upfront money…and is likely going to cost a lot more going forward. These types of deals indirectly push back on that. Much like when Microsoft gained market leadership during the 360 era. Even if it’s not the lead in the console space (and I predict they overtake the sales lead within two to three years), their presence is going to be pretty significant.

Activision Blizzard has a lot of presence in the East. Not Japan…but the East. Especially on PC. Bringing those customers to Game Pass and cloud could have some crossover effect.

it’s x360 gen but on steroids with PC/Mobile gaming in asia.

StarCraft 3 must happen, the game must be greenlighted as soon Phil take the seat

CoD in exchange for FF is a horrid deal and I’m sure everyone here knows by now how much I want more Japanese games on Xbox. They should be using it in exchange for Marvel games. Xbox’s biggest property in exchange for Sony’s biggest. It’s only fair.

Exactly what I’ve been saying and it will be especially hard for them to moneyhat Japanese games because they’ve been treating Japan as a tier-3 area for the last 5 or so years and let Nintendo completely dominate there.

Did Phil ever literally say he wants gamepass on ps? Because thats not the same thing as saying bethesda games go were gamepass is. I dont believe in gp on ps because it doesnt make any sense to me . People wont be buying xbox s anymore because ps has all the games then. Why would ms give up their platform where they invested so much money in. Its always better to be platform holder imo. I will never ever buy Sony hardware again its just trash tier build quality since the ps4. I need xbox hardware.

I am pretty sure that the court documents from the Epic case clearly demonstrated that Microsoft has tried to get Game Pass on other consoles.

Oh don’t get me wrong, FF in addition to them ceasing all those big third party deals (although any that have been made by now probably can’t easily or won’t be canned) would go a long way too. According to insiders we haven’t seen the last of those. That would be on top of KOTOR and the rumored BioShock.

But yeah man, Marvel. Imagine that, would be freaking amazing. I mean in terms of popularity I think those two stack up against eachother nicely.

But I am definitely not gonna get my hopes up on that.

I honestly think the pure FUD right now might already have an effect on deals like this.

And don’t ever buy into “Sony timed exclusive” rumors. They’re almost always false.

Right i forgot about that…but would this still be the goal now? They are in a much better and powerful place now imo. They dont need Sony anymore. Call of duty alone is enough to get a lot of causals to switch to xbox.

True. Except I’m guessing for deals that have already been made.

And except for when Imran said Sony was approaching some studios that Xbox has been associated with or bragged about having on stage. Bethesda with Deathloop, Ghostwire Tokyo and Starfield

But true, Kotor wasn’t rumored and BioShock, it has yet to be announced even.

I see no reason to think it has, as I am sure this directive comes from Satya because he is all into allowing people access to Microsoft’s services from any device they own, and in this case it is Game Pass.

But xbox would be giving up on their own hardware then…and become dependent of Sony on the console front. I dunno but this seems like an awful idea. I get why ms wants to play the Nice guy and all that but i wouldnt make that mistake with sony. They are ruthless. I would try to hurt them as much as possible. Xbox has this great negotiation position because they have their own platform. I m sorry i just dont get why you would put gp on Sony hardware.

I am just the messenger here and telling you what Microsoft is thinking lol.

But we know that (according to Grubb, who has seen it) that they ran the numbers on every scenario with Bethesda and found they would lose 500 million going exclusive which they could eat.

Will they eat it when the number is multiples of billions?
