First you said “pay attention to”, but now you’re saying “get upset over”. That’s a very different conversation.
I don’t think he gets it though
its seems most people are thicker than I thought
oh well… it is what it is
Yeah exactly.
When he said that, I read the whole thing again, checking to see if I was missing something. And it’s simple…the deal/document wasn’t made with the intent to take games away from players, but then they looked at the devices they have and the service they offer and it just wouldn’t make sense to release on systems that they don’t support.
That’s all it is, it’s a business after all. Matty is right about one thing, he doesn’t directly officially confirm it, not yet. The reasons are common sense, logical. And what he says at the end about Starfield…dude, just accept it that this is a MS game now.
But…but…they need Playstation!
Please?
Honestly, I don’t see Sony offering Xbox Live or GamePass on their devices. It would eliminate the need for PS+ and PSnow services losing them billions of dollars in the process. I do see Nintendo announcing xCloud on their device though.
The only way Rare Replay is going on Switch lol
That twitter thread. Awful takes all over
I mean, the graph explains as well why MS is so attractive for devs, besides of having tons of money, they built a solid cloud/mobile platform ready for devs to use with Xcloud. Developers can have their games developed once and virtually instantly put them on mobile with Xcloud. I think this played big with Bethesda deal and this is why Phil keeps saying they want more ppl to play games, because they expanded their platform support immensely with Xcloud/Gamepass, at least potentially. Still some ppl thinks he’s talking about Playstation LOL. It is pretty clear that MS had a master plan back in the day and things are finally coming together recently. It’s kind of frustrating seeing ppl still on denial about MS gaming’s strategy.
It’s the “there is nothing else, but PlayStation/PlayStation is the only gaming platform that matters” mindshare stupidity. As someone else mentioned, no, gaming has been a thing before PlayStation and will always be a thing even if there is no PlayStation one day.
yeah, it is the fanboy mentality that plages gaming industry. They act like gaming wouldn’t exists without Sony and all sort of BS. It is painful to see specialized and experienced journalists failing to understand that now Xbox is a gaming platform, but not just a console anymore. It is the MS gaming platform and if sony or whoever wants it, ok but they will have to accept the ecosystem integration to their platform.
Yes, and they also don’t accept that as Microsoft owns three platforms (something that Phil had to actually say, I am impressed gaming media/influencers still refuse to accept that Windows IS a Microsoft platform and it BELONGS to them) they really don’t need (and have the right not to) release their IPs on other platforms.
yep, I mean I think the irony of this story with Bethesda is that in the end of the day having their games on PS is more up Sony itself than MS. Phil already showed interest on put the Xbox ecosystem in other platforms, but with the proper integration, something, I’m 99% sure, Sony would never alow LOL.
The thing I don’t rationally understand is why they say Xbox has no games while saying Xbox games are trash and yet begging Xbox games to come to PS?
Sadly this is the case for a lot of people and I will never understand this blind brand loyalty. Hell giving a console or a game a chance is how Sony and MS entered the console space in the first place…
An example of this mentality is how fanboys like every 1st party release on their preferred console when at the same time they don’t have any interest in the competition’s games, I see posts like “nothing on X platform interests me” and I am like how is that even possible?
The biggest problem with this group that are in heavy denial(journalists, anti XBox crowd ) is that theyre too infatuated with Playstation. They can’t even see whats coming down the road. Microsoft are investing and branching out to more platforms that fit their roadmap. There’s heavy competition coming with Cloud gaming’s eventual boom, and these people are all caught up in the Sony brand with the biggest case of tunnel vision around to even see it. If they hate what theyre seeing now with Microsoft’s expansion then they’d better close their eyes because there will be new players that will rudely invade the market and disrupt things greatly. Some of these Playstation folks are coming off a very entitled view where Microsoft should cater to them, when infact the industry is moving towards a big change with cloud gaming. Its way more just Playstation, much more. These people are refusing to see it coming though. Microsoft don’t need Playstation, they have much more to choose from.
Do you guys remember when the first rumors of Gears of War going multiplatform surfaced back at 2013? then Gears became a god-tier and really important franchise that Sony fans always wanted to try out. Funny times!
These people won’t shut up until Xbox really confirms it 100%, until then they’ll keep saying this is mixed messaging, unclear, can go both ways etc.
People are just being dumb on purpose right now. True, he doesn’t flat out say the games won’t come to other platforms but everything he says and explains after that makes it crystal clear.
I can’t with some of these folks, lol.
I knew all this would happen when Phil got moved up and they started fixing everything that wasn’t working. They started with Live, then the console, then GP. They got all the immediate pieces in play and working optimal. Then they came upon fixing the games.
I’d told forum members that; shit was about to get real. Especially after all the bashing Xbox took for not having exclusives. It was their weakest link and I remember saying to Sony fans, "you asked for this ".
Looking back now, it feels good to be vindicated. I don’t even need creamer for my coffee. Its already sweet. Jeez!! Lol
Absolutely, and even worse, people like Ryan McCaffrey repeated the same stance when FFXVI was announced as PS5 exclusive (though we know it now to be timed); he congratulated Sony and called Xbox fans hypocrites. Ironically, not much later he’s complained about Bethesda’s games being ‘taken away’ from Sony fans, and he equally crucified Xbox for the Rise of the Tomb Raider timed-exclusivity. I called him out on after finding the old tweets, then was blocked. People who like to pretend there’s no media bias in favor of Sony are about as delusional as those who deny the same towards a certain orange demagogue.
Edit: Strikethrough for the Bethesda bit as he actually did not complain about the deal, was someone else in a thread that I misread. Apologies, I’ll ensure accuracy to the best of my abilities next time.
Nah, even then we’ll still see IGN (and the other similar-quality gaming media) move goalposts or write articles like we saw the other day. “Phil Spencer confirms Bethesda titles are 100% exclusive… but are they?” Or “Phil Spencer confirms Bethesda titles are 100% exclusive, but what exactly does that mean?”.
Really we should create a bingo card with all the bs we see
“Timed Exclusives are good for Playstation but Full Definitive Exclusives are bad for Xbox.”
