Outriders [OT] Journey Into the Unknown

Did you make any adjustments to the aiming related settings? Seems to be 3 or 4 settings related to it from what I can remember. I have not tried making any adjustments then seeing how it feels.

I usually increase sensitivity on all FPS/TPS shooters so will prob give that a go to begin with.

Yeh there wasn’t much, just sensitivity and ADS sensitivity basically.

No toggle for AIM Assist or not?

I only remember having to change a few of the defaults and being surprised at them, but don’t recall exactly what they were, just the feeling of “wow, why does everyone have to change that?”

Seems to be a pattern with this game: The default settings of most things (like the seizuring cameraman in cutscenes, wtf!) seems to be set to the opposite of what they should be.

Definitely agree that the aim controls aren’t perfect. They’re not horrible but no where near what a game like Gears feels like which is way more satisfying. That said, I’m still obsessed with this game; you just have to use the auto aim in a unique way to snap from target to target.

Yeah this game has nothing on Gears in the technical department. However I keep thinking that the way the game is structured would be a perfect fit for Gears…

I hope I can play tonight, I’ve had 2 bad nights in a row with no servers/disconnects. Ngl, it sours me a bit on the game.

Honestly, great interview by Paul Tassi. He’s quickly becoming one of my favorite personalities in the gaming jornalism space.

Outriders future content being expansions would be exactly what I would want. Of course, none of that matters if I can’t play the game due to their shitty servers.

As of 11:25am EST, is anyone currently playing on Xbox Series X?

I’m playing right now. I’m on EU servers. I can’t join random games though.

Servers are hammered for sure. It’s the weekend, the game is on game pass, so everyone is playing.

After playing a couple more hours today and getting past the demo area, I’m starting to see the appeal of this game a bit more.

That demo sure made an awful first impression though.

Yeah, Game Pass is hurting the servers.

For comparison sake:

Hitman 3, the biggest release of the year on Xbox so far, has 14,903 tracked players on TrueAchievements.

Outriders has 31,250 tracked players in just two days. And that’s only for people who care about achievements!

I was skeptical too. I was going too skip it having not seen what was the fun in the demo. But I can say now that it gets better and better the further you go. I’m in the forest right now and I’m hooked. Combat is so fun when you crank up the difficulty (world tier).

Even soloing, I have fun. The game encourages you to move around the arena and use your powers. Snipers, shotguns, all weapons are fun to use. I have a great time.

That’s useful data; do people need to register on TA to get counted in that?

I’m more in the camp of “this game is just really good so everyone wants to play it” but it makes sense that there are tens of thousands of people playing that wouldn’t if not for gamepass. A lot of people on my friends list who stick to CoD/Fortnite trying it out.

Yeah, the site only tracks registered users – that’s why it isn’t the best metric, but it can still give us an idea.

There is currently 80k players trying to play the game on Steam (the all-time peak was 112k at the same time).

Just got done with the tutorial part of the game last night to be at the same point as my brother as we are planning to coop the whole thing. We weren’t planning on getting the game but Gamepass and MS as usual are a godsend! I’m actually quite impressed with the game, although for a cover shooter I don’t like the controls as much as Gears for example, graphically it does look impressive and the story so far is all right for a shooter.

Can’t wait to dig more into this game tonight!

Finally a looter shooter that is hardcore and difficult. But even I love this game in coop:

Yep, EU servers are down too. :confused_wat:

Same. For me the prologue was the least interesting part so far.

The game is a bit rough around the edges and sucks that quick resume doesn’t work for this title.

Damn I love this game so much. Never would have tried it at $60, but on GamePass I’m all up in it’s grill.
