Imagine wanting to mod this place! ![]()
Thanks for continuing to listen to the community and be bold enough to communicate directly with us! It’s not lost on most enthusiast here that this isn’t the norm and it’s one of the things I love most about your team. Looking forward to the next phase of Xbox!
Your approach to next gen is preferred by me. More transparent, carrying over my entire library. That was enough. The fact that you’re enhancing them and doing smart delivery is just a bonus.
I look forward to the output of Xbox this generation.
I know there are things you can’t say and you have to paint your product in the best possible light, so I just want to say thank you for being as honest and transparent as possible.
I also want to say to say to make sure your team is not discouraged by the “gaming community” when negative feedback arrives. There are tons of bad actors who are just looking for slightest bit of weakness so pounce on to further their ulterior motives.
Hey Phil, appreciate you even just lurking here. I know I’ve had my share of criticism regarding the lead up to launch but I always respect the work you all do and am still extremely excited about the Series X/S launch! I just hope you all show games running on the Series X so that the system can just sell itself.
Many thanks as always and this community will continue to be as awesome as it is now!
I think the question is when did it start development. Not how long did it have before the target release. GoW would have been starting no sooner than mid 2018. Horizon would have started spring 2017. GT Sport came in late 2017, so GT7 could have started in early 2018. To me I would expect that if GT7 is cross gen (not confirmed but looks EXACTLY like GT Sport imho) then GoW likely is too, but there is a few month gap in there b/t when they started dev.
Oh wow, we actually got Phil on here. That is awesome.
I’ve been a huge Xbox gamer ever since the first Xbox and that hasn’t changed. You guys have had some hardships, but it’s clear that the future is very promising. There’s two last things I want to say for now…
If you haven’t seen this footage yet of a incredibly promising indie game, I highly recommend it. It’s amazing what such a small team can do and maybe Xbox could actually help out or definitely try and get it for the Xbox platform as well. Here it is.
And last but not least, I have no idea if you’re gonna answer me on this, but i would love to see some direct gameplay footage from games running on Series X. I want to see what that monster can do. ![]()
Thanks for the hard work, the honesty…that’s something that is very appreciated and goes a long way.
I agree that if GT7 is cross gen then GoW is likely as well. But, I don’t know, just over a 3 year development cycle on new hardware, developing a game during a pandemic and the fact Sony do like to give their developers time does indicate the game is likely to slip into 2022.
I did the same )
Welcome to the XboxERA forums Phil!!!
Looking forward to pre-ordering Xbox Series X this coming Tuesday as it will be my primary gaming console for next generation despite having PlayStation 4 as my primary gaming console for this soon to be finished (at least for me) generation because I simply prefer what you and the entire team at Xbox is offering for Next Gen.
First and foremost is the total and complete honesty, transparency and being open and up front with everything. I don’t have to guess or search online trying to gather info and details. I know what the Xbox Series X (and Xbox Series S) are and know what both of them can do and are capable of. I know what im getting with Xbox Series X and the investment into the Xbox eco-system. There’s nothing better than knowing and being confident in regards to what you’re getting before I actually pre-order the Xbox Series X. Simply, I just know.
Second for me is the Xbox Series X console itself. It’s a powerhouse but more importantly, it’s an overall balanced console with no compromises which will equal consistent performance while allowing all the games I play to look, perform!!! and play the best.
Third is the sheer value of the console itself and along with that is Game Pass. To be able to play all of the next generation first party titles on Game Pass day one is amazing value because for someone like me who’s not a collector and doesn’t replay games, not being forced to buy them is extremely consumer friendly. Add in third party games that will go into Game Pass day one or down the line and it becomes even more value and even more consumer friendly. Add in Backwards Compatibility which is great because I will be able to play all of the Halo games for the first time ever and I don’t have to be concerned about buying them or the older consoles to play them on. Again, massive value and very consumer friendly.
Fourth is the Xbox Series X controller itself. No gimmicks or this other stuff which granted some may like and want but not me. I just want the controller to accomplish what it needs to do which is be ultra responsive with minimal to no input lag.
Fifth is the investment into all of the acquired studios over the last 2+ years. Granted, not every studio are going to develop games that are for me personally but the investment into the expansion of all those studios and variety is superb. It gives me confidence for the entire generation.
Lastly, I want to give you massive credit for delaying Halo Infinite which in of itself was a ballsy decision that few would make. Sure, it’s disappointing but the game being launch in a not as great as it should be state would be far more disappointing. Also, in general, while it would have been huge to have at launch, im one of those who believe that having the game on November 5th, 2021 (hint, hint, lol) is far more important than at launch because every console and SKU is going to sell out regardless.
From a development standpoint, the delay is good because giving 343 Industries another year plus to work on the game is going to be better for the game itself. Plus, it takes away the pressure of having to rush out the game in time for launch.
So huge props for that decision which I know wasn’t an easy one to make. And finally, thanks again for giving Xbox fans including myself an amazing designed and built next gen consoles, being completely transparent and hopefully, once all the first party games start hitting, everyone who didn’t see it before will finally see the true greatness of the Xbox platform and eco-system.
Wish it was November 10th already!!!
Guess my bad luck then!
Didn’t work out for me😅
Dang, don’t know if anyone has watched Kinda Funny Games Daily today but they had Felicia Day on and she has no time for Playstation. Big Xbox fangirl lol.
What did they say?
It’s a recap of the showcase and criticism of the preorder confusion afterwards.
Felicia teases Greg that she plays on PC and Xbox and doesn’t like PlayStation.
Thanks for the summary!
Give us a link to that show, please!
There is no way they can downclock. If they did that then they just laid the biggest console turd ever.
