That’s too bad. I always do the $10 monthly auto-redeem anyway, but I know a lot of folks use it to fund their GP subscription.
Now in september I already can’t redeem Game Pass Ultime, only the PC or Core Game Pass 
I think the bigger problem is that it drastically increases the amount of points required for the same duration of GP. A month of GPU was 12,000 points. Two $10 gift cards is 17,500.
I get my subs cheap off CDKeys / Loaded then use my Rewards points for cheaper / free DLC purchases or game purchases.
Got a feeling my approach is going to become a lot more common…
Waiting for the October offer on gift card redemptions (should be able to get more for less points, hopefully they’re not raising the cost so it’s actually worse!) to redeem a load towards The Outer Worlds 2 upgrade.
Eh, I haven’t used them for Game Pass since the big discounted 3 month Game Pass Ultimate went away. I honestly prefer using points for gift cards and spending them on sales. Though now I’m trying to see how much I can save up before the next console.
It was announced earlier this month and I thought one month’s notice was far too short.
Earlier was “no more auto renewals”, this is just straight up “no more direct game pass redemptions”, I thought

I imagine we are about to get that 4K cloud addon, or new Plus Ultra tier. OR just plain old +1$ on a price. This removes all the work in adjusting exchange price, etc.

So I’m seeing some changes on the Xbox mobile app under the rewards hub. Looks like there’s increased bonus point gain for being an Xbox Game Pass Ultimate member.
Edit: Looks. Like a lower floor and a higher ceiling. Like for PC I remember it was a flat 10 points for playing a game, now it’s a base 5 points + 15 bonus points if you’re an ultimate subscriber. Bit of a win more, but overall if you are subbed to GPU you’ll earn more points and I think if you’re not then you’ll earn less points. I guess if they’re tying Xbox rewards this heavily to Game Pass subscription status then it makes sense why they’d take the direct redemption away.
All the fun stuff is leaving. Another example is my cinema theater. You used to be able to save points with every visit and then buy coca cola or popcorn with discount, that’s all gone too. It’s some bullshit.
But whatever.
Jesus if what’s being told in Resetera is true, it’s the end of GP for me after 5-6 years being subbed.
PC Gamepass going away and will be GamePass Standard and GamePass Core and no day 1 games. Increase in price for GamePass Ultimate to $25 (this may be delayed to 2026) Cloud streaming included in all tiers

cheaper ad based tier streaming only free/cheap tier, time based and forced ads
There’s no way im paying 25$ monthly for it to play on PC when keys exist.
And it’d be a goodbye to many MS games, they’ve been releasing many good games, but none worth paying 70-80€ for on day 1, i hope the changes only are made once the actual sub ends, would like to play a bit of Outer Worlds and some other MS games
I doubt they’d get rid of Day 1 games on the highest sub - their subscription numbers would crater as it removes a huge reason to have the highest tier (I’ve no doubt they may tweak stuff / change prices but that’s not as big a deal).
It sounds more like a Resetera wet dream to me…
Highest tier will still have Day 1 games, but according to Shinobi it’s raising the price to even higher than 25$.
There will be 2 other tiers (PC Gp will merge into one of these) but none would have all day 1 games.
Honestly praying it’s wrong and PC GP will survive somehow with day 1 games even if it gets a 10-20% price increase, we’ll see, should get announced today most likely.

I saw that thread and it’s literally “I have a friend who told me, trust me guys” then Shinobi chimes in claiming he’s heard something entirely different and other era circle jerks about MS killing GP entirely.
Will there be price increases at some stage in the near future? Probably. Are they going to be as dramatic and negative as those lot are dooming about? Almost certainly not.
I mean, its Resetera. Its a bunch of people who already dont have an xbox/GP, and have no plans to ever have either, circle jerking about negative rumors. As is tradition.
Even if it did go up to $25, is someone going to argue that $25 is too much when this month GP is going to have Outer Worlds 2, Ninja Gaiden 4, and Keeper. The alternative is about $200 to play those three games.
