Microsoft Closing Some Beloved Studios

The full show had a lot of really weird, off takes. As far as “insider info” I have no clue and ignore most of it now.

He is speculating because that sort of thing normally happens at the end of fiscal years. Nothing more. It’s unfortunate that a lot of these folks that spread this don’t have the best comprehension lol.

Didn’t Schreier said Microsoft is not done ?

Edit: One of Schreier’s point was “not done cutting cost”.

Unfortunately, yeah.

One thing you may be forgetting is Playstation started life as Nintendo’s SNES CD attachment, so I’d wager most of the development costs came from Nintendo. A lot of things were in place before the deal soured, apparently because Sony was being sneaky on the fine print of the deal or something.

Sony was quite clear actually, about owning disc format and music and movie licensing, that’s why Nintendo was sneaking around, working with Philips.

We’ve seen cuts at ABK and Bethesda, it follows that XGS would get some more. I’d expect we stop seeing side projects, things like project Mara.

I’d still love to know what that is - the bits they’ve shown look more my thing than Hellblade even

I don’t, if the company is paying for itself then having multiple projects is still crucial to Xbox’s goals. They need games of various sizes and truly smaller side-games fit that bill. Tango had HF:R which did fine but they had just gone off of GW:T which wasn’t cheap and did poorly. In the end all we can think of is “more gamez gud, but don’t looz muney”

By making more profits? and that goes to the other divisions. Their AI ambitions cost a lot of money.

That sucks. two of my favorite games this gen have been side projects in Pentiment and grounded. I hope this doesn’t cause Josh Sawyer to leave

Such a mature response, I applaud you good sir

Literacy is at an all time low. He is ASSUMING something based on MS usually restructuring bedore the financial year ends, he is not reporting anything. To be clear i am talking specifically about the claim in that tweet that Brad Sams is reporting something.

I think my words here on these forums back then was something like: “I do not like the sound of Microsoft Gaming…” Hm yeah…

Anyone who thinks they are done is just fooling themselves, I don’t blame them because the thought is really sad but fully expect XGS to get hit in the following months, who will it be is the only question.

Microsoft Gaming… brings back bad memories.

“that’s a bit of a stretch”

I’m trying to work out why I should care what he think s, 'cos I don’t know him.

The only reason why this passes an initial gut check is that Microsoft often readjusts their strategies with the beginning of their fiscal year in July. They have been known to lay off people in that time frame. They may be firming up some plans now of what the next year’s strategy is, but it wouldn’t be widely known and probably not set in stone yet. So take this as slightly informed rumor at best.

Edit:

Yeah this.

I think he helps run Noclip.
