How is the gaming division helping Microsofts AI ambitions?
The next Xbox could have an AI chip, and AI algorithms can be put in games.
Like MSFS is a good display of Azure marketing.
We’re so deep into the guessing to match our feelings territory that I see little inherent value in the conversation
With regards to hardware I think the next console they will try to be what Amazon have with the fire tv/stick in the U.K.
I don’t know what the market leader is in the US is it ROKU or something like that?
Anyway the fire sticks and TV’s aren’t the market leader because ever believes it’s a better than the Apple TV for example.
Its the no 1 due what it allows you to easily side load things such as IPTV when if you compare it to Apple TV where it had to be jail broken to do anything like that
If the next xbox console can do the same but with stores like steam epic etc whilst PlayStation continues down the Apple TV route then they have the chance of clawing back their reputation after the shit show of the last few months.
I understand all reasons for the business decisions for eternal growth but does anyone at MS understand PR and how they are tanking their own brand in the long run.
It’s the short sightedness that’s the most annoying they’ll get their little bit of growth for the year but will tank their own brand at the same time.
Maybe they are fully prepared for the third party future and are willing to give the next gen a go with a plan like above & then bail out if its not cost effective
I completely disagree with this. How does Phil Spencer or Matt Booty tell Tangi how to make a successful game? They’re not the ones that are hands on. Leadership gives you time and money, the rest is up to the developer. If the dev can’t do the job, it falls on them at this point and the studio’s leadership, not the higher Xbox leadership.
I wonder what people will say when Sony will close studios as well. Will there be the same push-back ?
Yes ? People were mad when Japan Studios were closed and questioned Sony’s commitment to the japanese market.
And honestly does it really matter ? This topic is about Xbox closing their studios.
We should really stop with this whataboutism
It’s another generic blame management take
They were mad , but not the level we are seeing now. I’m gonna preface by saying I’m not happy about these studios closures. At the same time, I’m amazed by how far it got, something that only seems to happen whenever MS does something. The gaming market is difficult right now, more closures will happen. We can only hope things are gonna get better eventually.
The tension is so high because of their multiplatform plans and closing highly rated studios while spending billions on the ABK acquisition.
Press and social media are definitely biased, but I don’t care. If you’re doing stupid stuff than you should get criticized.
But we don’t know exactly what motivated them to do that in the first place. What might be stupid for us may have a reason for them. I also don’t understand why they closed Tango, and I really regret that. I loved their games. At the same time, gaming has become unnecessarily negative all the time. I think most people don’t really care about the well-being of the developers, but more about criticizing a company or an other. The devs situation is just used as a weapon and I don’t like that at all.
ABK is known variable though, Tango and Arkane were not, which is why the closures happened, even though 1 game shouldn’t have been enough to go for the closures imo, but if they are going to be ruthless in how they manage their studios and money I guess it’s one way of doing it.
My position has been “I f’ing hate this, I don’t care the reason, but I won’t pretend to know if it was ‘smart’ or ‘dumb’ because I’m too ignorant of the how/why/etc.”. As a customer I hate it, always have and always will. But I refuse to pretend like I “know”, and I hate that people make assumptions and think they’re right because it matches how they feel.
Don’t disagree with your points. Xbox is definitely the poster child to bash like when they announced they keep releasing their games on Xbox one while Jim Ryan is lying about believing in generations.
But again it’s about Xbox so I don’t really care if Sony will have a different reaction when as an example Media Molecule is closed.
This shit will not even produce a rounding error in the Azure division revenue chart.
Its fascinating how Brad says this VS. Matt saying smaller games are still needed. Theres 100% a poner struggle going on.
Paul and Brad’s Xbox takes are something I rarely agree with, so I tend to ignore what they have to say.
Yeah? Hmm, I see. I often find Brad one of the most reasonable out there. But as for agreeing, you don’t think it will be July for further layoffs?
