They kind of are in the sense of closing studios and firing employees. Their hardware decline isnt seen as a success. Aspects of their business is absolutely failing. Otherwise these decisions wouldnt be made
Arkane austin i understand but tango decision is a cowardly one. Youre only japanese studio and this leads em to believe Phil wil walk soon. I doubt hes in control anymore.
Lol I want to argue but it is true, Xbox has a history of having terrible news rob any good news of its impact - sometimes their own fault, sometimes not.
Xbox are Sideshow Bob in a rake factory, I’m really hoping that’s going to start changing
I’ve got bad news about that “outdated piece of crap” part…
I’ve yet to see anyone say this is a “nothing burger”, but some of that pushback you mentioned occurs after those individuals first recognize the absolute garbage bit of news this is and are merely not in agreement that the sky is falling like some of them are constantly by a fair amount of you… every time anything remotely negative happens.
Such a wild timeline.
Went from people calling Grubb an idiot for saying Hi Fi Rush did not do well to now people doing soft damage control saying this was bound to happen due to the game’s performance.
The fact that a studio can work on a new type of genre and release a great game with virtually 0 bugs and still be shuttered without being given a chance in good faith is demoralizing as hell.
Keep in mind:
Phil and his team will be in that interview with IGN. Also they will be at FanFest in which Phil was being “him” which is pretty rare. By him, I mean real him, not business self. So for those who’s asking about not alienating themselves, those will be the time.
I still think Nintendo is scared to jump to the next generation. They have a strange pattern of good idea bad idea flow.
I wouldn’t be surprised if they were cancelled because Phil will definitely be heckled.
They own the company, it’s not “misleading”.
The entire industry is stagnant right now, yes. They grew in the only way anyone can at their scale until things pick up again.
I am not sure that “cowardly” applies here. Tango is great but is yet to have a commercial success. Heartless businesses only care about making money and not making reviewers happy.
Didn’t stop there from 2013. Might as well go and take it.
Xbox is just going to double down on existing franchises, that’s all it is. I think they leave indies to do the heavy lifting when it comes to new/risky stuff and MS will focus on the main franchises. People want ES6 and Fallout 5, not Starfield or Hi-fi Rush apparently, so they cut the fat off of Bethesda and will focus on what people want and bring those games out asap. That’s what today tells me.
No one lost their jobs with the 2013 and people weren’t as online.
Starfield did well sales-wise according to all the sales charts and will continue to be supported. We need to not let this terrible news cloud reality.
I remember when there was error in showing, someone shouted out something anti-Xbox. It was during BF. When PS got a problem, people cheered them on like “It’s okay. We make mistake!” It’s like wrestling, you either cheer them up or shout “You fucked up.”
They definitely will…no less than 53 months after this generation began…making it even more dated than the Switch was in 2017 and it will have all the fidelity of an Xbox One, if you’re lucky.
Yeah, anyone hoping it could possibly replace your Xbox…oh I’m sure it can but you need to accept what a big downgrade in graphics and fps you’ll get. I’m not kidding myself.
I’ll be getting that new Nintendo system solely for their own games.
Well this sucks.
This is why I really loathe the console-war, tribalism, click-bait, crap. These developers are having a hard enough time just appeasing their capitalist overlords.
I believe they will still take some risks, but maybe fewer for now until they see more growth. Seems to be a lot of publishers retreating back to established IP.
As for Starfield, it excited a lot of people and I don’t believe that was lost on Microsoft. And it made a big splash up on release. It’s just that the game needed some additional time to flesh it out. I am interested to see how the upcoming updates affect the community around it. Hopefully for the better.
Hi-Fi Rush’s problem is that it felt like a PS2-era game in a niche genre (even back then) with this gen’s visuals. Great love letter to that era of gaming, but it was never going to be a huge breakout hit.
It’s McNamara’s dilemma once again. The numbers don’t tell the whole picture. You’ll probably have no developpers left if you keep cutting staff and closing studios. Putting everyone on COD or Fallout isn’t the solution.
They needed to put these studios on smaller and more creative projects, maybe move them in smaller offices, but not let them go like that…
The Redfall update being cancelled is just so bad if true…
