Oh good lord that HokagoClub shit is peak cringe. Literally one of the most cultish Sony worshippers I’ve seen out there. They even hate Switch and PC.
Competition is great and definitely drives competitive pricing, but much like Netflix, I don’t think Xbox will raise its prices until they have in the hundreds of millions of subscribers. And by then the value will be even more immense.
Digital Foundry has a lot of great stuff that’s not just comparisons. You should check out the DF Retro episode about Halo Combat Evolved, it’s amazing.
They didn’t attack him if that’s what you mean but they did however offer actually well thought out counter arguments. There was one lawyer guy among them who was well versed in acquisitions and such that really destroyed his arguments, respectfully.
The chat on the other hand was having none of his bullshit though. Nobody was name calling or anything, but reminding Colin of all Sony’s dealings that ran Sega out of the market and nearly did the same to Xbox.
Any other suggestions? I’m open to watching other stuff, but I really, really hate Halo (yes, I know that’s strange for someone that vastly prefers Xbox).
Im just amused that they think Joe Biden actually has anything to do with that twitter account or that anyone actually reads the assuredly thousands of shitty mentions and DMs the account probably gets on a daily basis.
I was laying on my bed for some time when out of nowhere my Doomer self come out and told me “What will happen if the MS-ActiBlizz deal falls through?”
The more I think about it, fuck you brain, the more I am unsure that the deal will pass.
What do you think?
Microsoft would have done a risk assessment on the whole deal. Including Activision’s legal situation, how the market might change in the year before the acquisition is complete and how regulators would view it.
If they went for it I imagine they feel good about it.
These deals can only be done by very large companies. If it doesn’t go through, it’s like a catch-22.
There’s no way you could stop a company like MS investing and buying other companies. That’s the only way for them to grow. It can be a bit brutal and worrying sometimes, but that’s the economy we are stuck in now.
I’m curious, because exclusivity is such a prominent idea in gaming, specifically console gaming, does Microsoft have a case pointing out Sony’s recent trend of using its strong market position in securing 3rd party exclusivity on popular games?
When I read things like you Microsoft may have to make a concession to keep CoD on PlayStation, I just don’t understand how that makes any sense. It would literally seem like regulators are stifling Xbox’s ability to compete.
I just watched it, I dont find any of Colin’s perspective all that egregious. Im not particularly familiar with him I just see his name tossed around all the time, but every concern he had are things that MS could easily assuage just by doing the things we are all hoping to see from them after this.
