Microsoft-Activision-Blizzard Discussion Thread |OT4| - Dawn of the Final Day, Deal is done!

I’m guessing they probably need to review how/if this deal impacts the concessions MS made to them as part of their review. I don’t think it does because the original concession was updates to the consumer license that allowed them to stream on any BYOG service globally.

Exactly this, they’ll look at it again to make sure it doesn’t impact the comittments MS already made but aside that there wont be any changes

Will we finally see this deal end by October? Am just too damn tired with all this bureaucratic nonsense that the CMA are doing. What do you all think?

Cause this is something that i feel like the CMA are going to have a hard time trying to block now that several people choose to green lit the deal especially after this move, so the pressure is on them and if they choose to block that they will be seen as a laughing stock for many years to come.

Additionally, what does this mean for possible new IP and other titles outside Call of Duty be made within the Activision Blizzard Division? Will the games be exclusive to Xbox or not?

This is making me want to see this whole ordeal end soon, so that we can focus on better things all together.

And you don’t think Microsoft and the lawyers they hired had a look at this already?

Man does it ever seem like the world is against Microsoft. This dictatorial regulator couldn’t have picked a worse time. I certainly don’t think Microsoft will be involving the CMA in any future acquisitions. I imagine if they go for Sega, they will have the UK studios sold first to avoid bringing them in.

This is not what this means. It means that the games that Microsoft own via the deal are licensed to Ubisoft for streaming, to then allow market forces to dictate the prices. So MS will then have to buy them back to put them into Xbox Game Pass Ultimate Streaming.

If it was at 80%-90% before I would say its at 91%+ now :stuck_out_tongue:

This mother fucking acquisition is never ever going to fucking end. CMA is ridiculous and Microsoft continuing to bend over for these assholes is even more ridiculous. UGH.

At this rate, I can see that I will never ever get Diablo IV on Game Pass. Thanks CMA. You mother fuckers don’t have a fucking clue about anything. You’re screwing me over and im not even in the UK. UGH.

Same, i feel the exact same way about the CMA. I just hope future acquisitions do not involve the CMA at all until its representatives are out of the equation.

That’s not quite how it works.

The UK would still review it if Microsoft or Sega do business in the UK (which both clearly do). They would have to announce that Microsoft and Sega would not sell anything/provide services in the UK too - which is clearly not going to happen.

CMA is a bigger joke than the FTC which is saying something. It’s amazing how 40+ regulators approve the ABK deal with NO RESTRICTIONS while EU comes to terms regarding Cloud but nothing else and yet, the CMA is run by political and ideological mother fuckers who don’t know shit which is apparent by the state of the UK is in.

I would pull every ABK game from the UK and close over them. Future wise, I would tell the CMA, don’t bother reviewing our acquisitions because we’re simply going to pull all future content from the UK and you guys at the CMA can explain to your citizens why you’re continuing to fuck them over repeatedly.

Hahahaha. Nah, I’ll wait. I have plenty of other games to play and as soon as I buy it, that’s when the deal gets done. lol

I don’t think we have all the information yet. As it is just now are we saying that someone with an Xbox or PC or whatever can subscribe to Ubisoft+ and not GamePass and play the new CoD day one without actually buying the game?

If that’s the case then Ubisoft must have spent a fortune on this and id guess Sony and Nintendo won’t want any part of it.

He’s got a point.

True and we have Sea of Stars coming soon alongside Starfield so that will take a lot of time, so i would not worry. Also we may get something out of Gamescon today for Game Pass as it usually does, not even thinking about TGS occurring the next month, where even more Game Pass games will be shown.

It doesn’t sound like that big a deal as it only affects streaming and last I heard, X Cloud only allowed for 5000 concurrent users in the UK.

As long as you can access the same games via Game Pass by downloading them, I’m not sure many will truly give a damn about this being the trade-off.

Only on streaming. As MS pointed out during the FTC case streaming is not very popular at the moment.

If its in the Ubisoft+ catalogue they can stream it and only stream it. Probably from a PC or an Xbox. FWIW it would cost Ubisoft almost their entire net worth to pay Microsoft to get 1 Call of Duty game at launch on streaming on all platforms, let alone all ABK games.
