I believe it’s at 9:30 am EST that we will begin to hear from CMA.
Pachter is out again! ![]()
Its just gone midday in the UK. I expected something from them by now tbh.
Why would the CMA announce anything before their scheduled hearing with the CAT at 2:30 local /9:30 edt?
Wasn’t the meeting at 2:30 GMT (in 2 hours and 10 minutes)? We likely won’t hear anything for a good 3-4 hours yet.
But Sony never signed the 2027 deal. So only the 10yr COD one is not in force?
The CAT hearing is just a formality to delay proceedings. It’s not where the CMA will discuss what the process is. Not sure what people expect from that. It’s just a formal stay for the appeal. Both sides turn up confirm that’s what they want. That’s it as far as I know.
But why do you think the CMA will make any public decisions prior to their meeting with CAT in two hours?
Or it’s just 4 AM in California
I meant out of the UK and CMA!
The 2027 deal is also there with 10 year deal.
Only half information is out in the e-mail.
And many are misinterpreting the e-mail.
Not sure I’m with you.
The 10 yr deal that Sony signed yesterday, the one that was announced by Phil, is the ONLY contract signed between Sony and MS, as it pertains to any and all post-acquisition ABK content. It relates to COD on,y, not any other ABK content.
All previous contracts were refused by Sony so don’t apply.
Can you point me to evidence to the contrary, in case I’ve missed something? Scratching my head a bit now.
Not every detail is out. We only have an e-mail which I think Tom from verge shared first.
10 year deal is confirmed. And we know xbox won’t pull existing games of Playstation.
They may have rejected the other Activision games deal.
Edit: my confusion might have arrived from the Blizzard part and that Activision has more franchise other then Cod. Sorry for the confusion there.
Assuming it’s still only CoD for the next ten years, then MS should make everything else that is coming now exclusive. Sony didn’t exactly co-operate with them, but more importantly they want people hooked on Game Pass. That’s how you do that.
Speaking of CoD 2023, I assume this will still be part of Sony’s existing deal and won’t launch on GP?
Ah thanks.
Whilst I agree MS won’t pull existing games off PS, I do think that the new deal excludes any NEW ABK games though, which is the biggest “win” from a MS point of view. Whilst Sony will get a lot of money from still selling COD for longer, MS needs content for Gamepass and having other NEW ABK games made exclusive to Xbox/PC will help drive growth in that regard. COD may be massive but it is only one game per year at best. Having other ABK content for themselves will be more important to MS than to Sony, in that regard. Sony had more to lose from lost COD revenue than lost revenue from as yet unknown ABK games.
I’d be interested to know if the upcoming survival game from Blizzard will go exclusive.
There’s no longer anything stopping MS from making it exclusive, even if they’d probably keep it multi platform to help the player base.
Blizzard is not even mentioned in the e-mail. That survival game is for sure xbox pc exclusive. Unless it falls in a case by case basis.
Quite. There’s nothing offered to Sony that suggests this game is coming to PS. It will only if MS wants it to.
It is.
Whilst I can hear the howls of saltiness from afar already…and this particular game might benefit from not being exclusive, I do think they should make this one exclusive, just to set expectations for the future.
