My guess is that they’ll have things settle down and setup everything to release the games in Game Pass. Maybe early August but I would save it for Gamescom.

August seem a long ass time away. If they closed on Monday. I think they drop ABK games onto gamepass the same week.

I think it will be a few weeks because they’ll want to add the games to PC Game Pass as well plus there’s Battle.net so Microsoft will want to make sure that it’s all up and running. No reason to rush it.

Hell, if it was up to me, I announce this all at Gamescom for September 5th including Diablo IV. Beforehand, I would delay Starfield to November 21st. Diablo IV in September along with COD games, Crash, Spyro, etc., Forza Motorsport in October and Starfield in November going into 2024. I would simply take full advantage of getting/having ABK.

Seems like Diablo IV player base has fallen off a little bit. Well, what better way to get people back in than Game Pass addition? Of course, this is just what I would do because they can have a massive four month increase in Game Pass subs between September and December. Then, you get to early 2024 with the 2nd Annual Developer Direct followed by Towerborne and Avowed in the first half with Hellblade 2 and COD 2024 in the second half.

Oh and at the 2024 Xbox Games Showcase, I announce that effective July 1st 2024, Gold is dead making online multi-player free and since they would also be showing COD the same day at the showcase, well, boom!!! Why pay for online multi-player when you don’t have to?

I personally enjoy the ones who try to tell me , a gamepass subscriber how the deal “doesn’t benefit me”. They can never seem to make a sound argument as to why though. Go figure.

Maybe they can drop all of the ABK Console games on Xbox into Gamepass first, then do the PC Side later. No need to make the console player wait for the PC side.

I used to think the same thing but then I look at Sea of Thieves, State of Decay 2, Grounded and Forza Horizon 5 and im like, yeah, they don’t need to release co-op/multi-player games on PlayStation because if the game is good and gets a lot of content, they will get a pretty big player base plus they’ll also have PC.

I’ve never liked the “GaaS will be multiplatform by default” argument for the very reasons you’ve already mentioned. At the end of the day, Phil and co are going to do a cost analysis on the tangible merits (money) vs intangible merits (influence of draw on GP subs/Xbox brand) of any game, and like we’ll see GaaS exclusives from Bethesda, so shall we from ABK (and some will likely be multiplatform, so the best of both worlds). Regardless, the revenue that will be brought in for Microsoft Gaming will be huge, and will ensure the effective safety of Xbox - both in the market at large, and at Microsoft proper.

PS is not going to release their GAAS titles on Xbox (except Bungie of course), so it doesn’t make sense to think that outside of COD and maybe Overwatch MS support PS for their news GAAS titles.

I don’t think they will need Kotick for that, as they can always hire people replace him and the board(they need to go as well) as head of ABK.

These people should be able to operate ABK, like Zenimax is now, while answering to Microsoft Gaming.
