They wanted to make a political statement to influence the judge mind. It is just a testimony on how weak the FTC was this week.

If Canada actually had concerns then they could have included them in their letter with specifics. They dont, they are clearly attempting to influence a judge as a foreign agent.

It’s funny how there are over a dozen Bethesda titles in Playstation Plus at the moment, yet Sony and the FTC kept talking about how MS couldn’t be trusted and would definitely make everything exclusive and foreclose on Sony. There are probably more Xbox 1st party titles in Playstation Plus than there are Sony 1st party titles.

I really hope this Activision deal goes through. It will be good for the Xbox brand, provide confidence in the fanbase, and guarantee Gamepass succeeds well into the foreseeable future. Those three points are huge as an Xbox fan. It feels like the end of the “fear, uncertainty, doubt” era of Xbox.

Sure there is some debatable grey area about how much change to Activision strategy will even be effected (smart money is on Call of Duty salt mines continuing unabated), but the positives of this Activision deal (plus Bethesda) is that we finally have what feels like fair and distinct competition. PlayStation, Nintendo, PC, and Xbox all come with powerful selling points.

I do think COD will have a more balanced release cadence and Phil isn’t going to force all the studios to continue to support only one game. He’ll keep to that given how much of a difference it will be compared to Bethesda and how they run their IP with Howard at the head of it. Something that I think COD needs going forward.

… It’s hilarious that he tries to paint Sony as a “small baseball team with no money” but I guess this kind of history revisionism BS from someone like him is to be expected. The answer to all of this is Sony will reap what they sow, the “poor small team” has bullied the “big team with lots of money” for quite some time now and apparently the big team had enough of this. Xbox isn’t going anywhere and from now on if anything they seem to be even more aggressive so him and the rest of the cultists will have to deal with it, move on, play some of their Prestige games and actually be concerned about their favorite platform’s future (not so bright) plans.

I think people are starting to take notice, 2 people at my work last week just realized they won’t be able to play Starfield on their PS5 and are mad at Microsoft now for buying Bethesda lol

Technically 5 “business” days after the ruling so it most likely will be the week after
