But that super big list isn’t what they are still looking at, according to Jez. It’s a much smaller list now. Hopefully some good ones, because that big list had some really, really good ones.
As for this case…
Satya tomorrow?

Its going to get real interesting once this deal goes through, part of me wants to see an acquisition war 2.0 between Microsoft and Sony I won’t be surprised if Sony goes after another studio on the Xbox finalists targets or the watch for list.
While I’d love to see MS buy Sega, i would be fine if they for example invested and bought 45% of the company and in exchange Microsoft gets all future marketing for all Sega games and gets them all in Game Pass day 1
Same with CDPR
I defiantly feel like if ABK goes through Sony will absolutely go after some more game studios and I’d be shocked if they weren’t ones Microsoft wants too.
Right, the huge list was called the “Consideration” list
The next slide in the documents then shows their “filtering” process
And then Slide 3 is the “Final list”
This list is from 2021 so it’s around two years old. I would have loved Housemarque. Main studio developing third person shooters while perhaps having a secondary 30+ person small team developing isometric twin stick shooters like Nex Machina and Alienation. Obviously, this can’t happen since Sony acquired them a while ago.
Would love to see Microsoft get People Can Fly, Remedy Entertainment, Crytek (mainly for Ryse IP), IO Interactive and Larian Studios as well as both publishers listed - Paradox Interactive and Sega.
Funny how much that last slide looks like my original list from when I created the Acquisition OT
Kinda weird Avalanche isn’t on that list when they were already working with them. Certain affinity too.
Who’s ready for the main event?
The guy from tweaktown must be watching a different court case lol, I’m sorry, I’m tired of these fake neutral media/analyst guys, does it hurt them to at least just list down what was said in the courtroom to give insight to the public instead of slyly leaning to a certain(and obvious) bias to serve their agenda. They, in my eyes, are worse than the most rabid fanboys. Sorry for the rant y’all.
I dont have too much of an issue with Derek Strickland because the guy is a clout chaser and engagement farmer. He doesnt believe anything he says and is saying things that will get him engagement
Red Dragon does the same thing but the dude takes it to super toxic levels
Tae Kim though oof that dude actually believes the crap he says which is the crazy part.
Just dropping in to say I was wrong about the deal being close to dead (though I wish it would just wrap up!). Crow eaten. Also, goodnight Jim Ryan and the economist (?) were absolutely painful to listen to. Felt like a full serving of Eggo’s for hours on end.
Not releasing any games in 2022 was a 4D chess move by MS:
Tangential to the Microsoft ABK deal but things aren’t all well at the FTC. Left leaning democrats trying to bully their own democratic commissioners to push their own agenda:
It’s too bad Asobo isn’t on it. Definitely expected that one to stay there.
A lot of the coverage by game or tech journos is subpar in general or too coloured by bias one way or another. This isn’t surprising since they probably don’t have any legal expertise, but they do seem to be the only ones covering the case everyday.
Assuming there isn’t a meltdown of epic proportions and this PI is denied MS just need to close this. I’ve had enough of it all. Close it and then take on the CMA. There are consequences to that but I don’t think those consequences are going to be close to as dangerous as they were pre this PI hearing.
