Microsoft-Activision-Blizzard Discussion Thread |OT3| - Sony bends the knee!

The people creating these games care so much less about the consoles than the people playing it.

Anyone know what time is the hearing?

Today is the big day?

Yes. It’s the beginning of the end.

That’s even worse than not doing it live but on video. wow.

So the USA and UK hate Xbox?

Cant be bothered to travel the 30km from San Mateo to San Francisco. There is even a eco friendly train option so he could sleep for half an hour.

I really get the impression this thing is way more important for the FTC than Jimmy Ryan

Information on yesterdays ABK shareholders meeting. I don’t think it mentions ABK / MS Deal.

Yeah, this sounds right. No prompt decision should be automatic approval. What Australia and New Zealand are doing is downright criminal IMO. Learning on January 22, 2022 that the outside date for the deal to close is July 18, 2023 and waiting until July 17, 2023 is super scammy.

This being brought up as me tinfoil hat thinking did Microsoft release it when they knew it wasn’t ready to showcase that not all games are big hits and can fail easily even as big as a gaming company MS is, that would be kinda wild.

What do Sony, CMA and FTC have in common here XD

At the end of the day they are irrelevant :joy:

Yes, but they’ll reject the acquisition on July 17th and CMA will use it as an argument 1 week later: “see, comity doesn’t apply here because the deal was denied in Aus/NZ”

When does it start?

No. Microsoft will say whatever to complete the deal. From “Our games suck” to “we have no plans to remove call of duty from Playstation”. None of them are real.

I really don’t think they plan on removing call of duty from PlayStation. Why would you not use that to fund your other gaming ventures.

Well they’re not going to say Redfall sucks if it sold 10m copies and was praised by the critics now are they. The reason why they brought up Redfall is the fact the FTC brought it up themselves when saying MS made Starfield and Redfall exclusive.

Yeah they’ve been saying they suck and this that and the other but they’re calling out Redfall specifically because the FTC is trying to make it a big deal. Microsoft didn’t come out and say Hi-Fi Rush was terrible and hated by critics, because it wasn’t and the FTC didn’t bring up that game.

Microsoft are probably trying to show them that sure it’s a huge game and look at it failing, it can happen to any game including Call of Duty for example.
