Microsoft-Activision-Blizzard Discussion Thread |OT2| The NeverEnding Acquisition

Imagine being the only one in the world blocking money and feeling good about yourself like you defeated evil.

This decision is not even a setback for MS and Xbox but also UK. After Brexit they should have learned.

With the amount of bad decisions UK is making. It feels like the sun is finally setting on the British Empire.

I feel the same way. Until now, this has been MS playing “nice”, going forward they are gonna be ruthless.

A fair observation too. Why would any tech company move to the UK after seeing a tech company merger shut down because of innovation in a niche market? Absolutely mental.

Forget Brexit the decision will largely be the same regardless of the party in power. Plus isn’t CMA supposed to be an Independent body.

I think a lot of people have this weird perception like everything’s going to go back to normal like Activision’s relationship with Sony is f***** whether you like it or not and I think they’re immediately going to get the marketing rights if this deal is blocked for next year you’re going to be for a rude awakening because I want to remind some people money in greed is what led to the PlayStation’s creation

Exactly lol. Whats funny is ps fanboys think this is good. Its bad for them because ms can now really scruitinize sony practises

I hope this doesn’t influence the EU’s decision

They don’t care lol. They just see a Jim Ryan “W”.

I hope not but at this point 2/3 oppose the deal

Yeah, just lock COD2024-6 down and test the ‘theory of harm’

Well, Sony won. How sad for the industry and for its consumers, who will have to continue to support its monopoly and its anti-competitive practices because it is protected by Western authorities. Blocked the agreement on the Cloud? What joke.

Brexit and now this. Their economy is in the shiter.

Wasn’t China’s CSRC in that group as well?

I don’t wanna be pessimistic, but even if MS wins the appeal, how can they convince CMA to change their mind and approve it?

Yes but I’m not sure we know how they view the deal

Yeah, that’s true, nothing to do with brexit. I just feel bad for everyone involved. It’s just a bullshit decision based on some vague hypothetical argument about cloud gaming… it feels like a joke. It’s like they wanted to be seen as the saviors blocking this deal.

Microsoft really needs to drop this deal imo. I know they’re looking for a strong foothold to enter the mobile market with King with the Activision acquisition, but that’s clearly not an option at this point. I already believe that Xbox has been neglected a lot in the last year in focusing on securing this acquisition, but I think it’s a lost cause to continue to persist.

The CMA argument on cloud would get thrown in the trash, what else are they going to block it on? You cant just block because you feel like it and the CMA cant just pull a new concern out of their ass
