Microsoft-Activision-Blizzard Discussion Thread |OT2| The NeverEnding Acquisition

As I said yesterday, it is amature stuff from the FTC.

You can see why Microsoft is frustrated because the FTC is not looking at the deal on its merits and has decided to block it due ‘Big Tech.’

Maybe stop focusing on some ridiculous what-if scenario that 1 or 2 posters made as if that’s the norm in this thread?

Exactly, just look at the tweets from Elizabeth Warren and Bernie Sanders, the message is the same, big tech are evil and must be stopped no matter what, even lying if necessary.

This suggests that FTC and EC are not coordinating, at least not fully.

CMA could also be in the same boat who knows, which is why it’s never over till it’s over.

The crazy thing is if this went to a federal court it’d be a wrap, MS probably isn’t worried about beating the FTC in court (they’d do so in their sleep) but more so having to deal with their BS internal process

Thankfully they can close or extend as long as the EU (who are almost a lock along with China) and the CMA (who are likely) are all on board

The more I see this the more this was clearly a hail mary from the FTC to try to sway the EU and CMA and it looks like the EU isn’t buying their horseshit

Yeah the process is the bigger issue in the US rather than an actual case.

I imagine the EU was not impressed that the FTC basically put words in their mouth. At least it does indicate that they don’t automatically believe that Microsoft cannot be trusted.

But man, this deal .

LoL after that EU statement it seems the last hope for people has become CMA as some folks claim that "CMA will 100% block this otherwise FTC would not do that as they are coordinating"lol

Well said, Jez…

Ouch…

Surely this literally slam dunks one of their main arguments, especially when MS start listing all of Sony’s exclusives from their acquisitions.

Their other argument was cloud wasn’t it, which IMO was weak to begin with.

Idas does great work, you guys should really follow him at otherERA, he’s been on top of all of this

It actually weakens their reason to not accept concessions because they don’t believe Microsoft will keep their promise.

In the scenario that CMA and EU do decide to not go with MS, that’s it? It’s over? Or can MS still make some moves, so to speak?

 :joy:

If the CMA goes against then that is pretty much it. If the EC goes against, Microsoft can appeal it, but they might decide not too as that would mean lengthy fights in the US and EU.

It is absolutely bananas a regulatory body like the FTC, with such great power, can shamelessly resort to lies to go ahead with its political/ideological agenda.

Truly revolting. I hope they are crushed in court for good.

Holy shit , FTC is corrupt AF

They just want to block the deal just for the purpose of blocking it, even if the deal is not harmful .

The current administration doesn’t care about consumers and all they care about is proving they have the power to destroy businesses
