Sony is even telling the same thing. Losing CoD revenue will essentially hurt their first party games division. And they’ll be giving Microsoft the money to better leverage the playing field. Why the hell do you think they’re fighting so hard to stop the deal?

Sony won’t be giving Microsoft any money. COD players will be spending money on COD and that’s it…

And Sony doesn’t either, COD isn’t the only money printer on PlayStation, their games are all profitable, especially lately where they’ve been selling millions at full price.

To be fair this was Kaz Hirai who was a far classier leader for PlayStation (albeit slightly… eccentric?) & it was 2002 when humor with tongue-in-cheek messaging wasn’t a huge deal - likewise fanboys weren’t as toxic because adults knew how to behave better twenty years ago.

The man will always be a legend & the 2006 E3 is enshrined in gaming folklore at this point. I wouldn’t want it any other way either i.e. “It’s Riiiiiidge Racerr!”. Aka epic.

But Jim Ryan isn’t funny & the hordes of man-children who’re absolutely serious in their toxic anti-Xbox outlook aren’t funny either. When I see the literal hate Redfall is currently being bombarded with for example, then no, it’s not funny anymore.

Social media’s inherent issues with toxic fandoms & a PlayStation hierarchy littered with greedy hypocrites using that social media to their advantage means this has gone way beyond a joke now.

Yeah, it was definitely a different time. I remember Playstation running a fold out poster add in magazines that showed off all the great Playstation games and had the tagline “If you still want a Saturn, your head is in Uranus”. I remember thinking it was funny even though I was more of a Sega fan at the time.

Well it’s not money that Sony will be giving to Microsoft, not any more than ‘Sony gives money to EA for FIFA’ or any other 3rd party game published on Playstation.

My question too. I’m in the UK and EE/BT are pretty decent. I’ve swapped around each year for the best deals. If EE/MS are offering something specially I’ll go with them. Issue is I have no idea what this gives me.
