Yeah I think it’s too early to say for 100% certain but it seems pretty clear we’re not heading down a block route, or at the very least worst case scenario I think it is down to Microsoft and how far they are willing to go with concessions. Definitely seems more likely that it is going to pass at this point.
I just have a really bad habit of overthinking my sentences, and I’ll go back and I’ll rewrite one section and then I’ll go back and rewrite another section - and then having done all that I’ll completely fail to notice that my new frankenstein sentence doesn’t make sense or doesn’t say what I meant it to say. So in this case I missed a key word and just said the exact opposite of what I meant
I truly can’t believe that Jim Ryan and Sony are fighting so hard for this acquisition to be blocked and the best argument they have is COD which isn’t even a valid argument. I really hope all the regulators pass this shit and just say that any already signed contracts will apply but otherwise, no restrictions because at this point, I kinda just want to see how Sony will collapse without COD. lmao. smh.
Nah. Sony has well and truly jumped the shark now. Their arguments just make them look ridiculous and that they just want the deal blocked and it doesn’t matter on what grounds.
It doesnt matter, if the game is buggy mess, runs poorly you chalk it up to a bad game and not a need to play elsewhere.
If it came out and was amazing, but just ran a little poorly because you are min specs, then you might consider a console for your next upgrade.
Think about all the people that look at steam reviews, see that score under (40% = im not playing that, not i better google where to play)
On the flip side God of War was an amazing port, i would argue that game would do more to plant the seed of buying a ps5 if you didnt meet the specs (96% on Steam) and wanted to play the sequel.
Really their is never going to be a way to predict that. How many PS owners would just buy an xbox as a secondary console vs them selling their PS to buy an xbox? Things like that are never going to be reliably predictable and honestly it should not matter. Sony should not have some guaranteed market share. They deserve no protection like that.
I think it’s way more than 4% though. I mean if MS bought Take 2 and EA on the same day, with intent to make all the games exclusive and some survey said it would only result in 7% of Playstation customers jumping ship i’d say that survey was bullshit!
What does jumping ship mean though? If you already have a PS most likely youd just buy an Xbox and have 2 consoles. VS selling your PS and losing your games.
Why should anyone care about that which is the more likely scenario?
Is this the CMA survey on how many customers would switch? The key thing is that the 24% figure represented how many customers would play Call of Duty on another platform - but this includes a wider range of possibilities - such as customers who would switch to PC, play it on Cloud or buy an Xbox as a secondary console. I believe 4% is specifically how many people would switch to Xbox as their primarily platform. It definitely sounds low but hey, that’s the result they found
The biggest thing is this- A large portion of that 24% would move to playing COD on Nintendo switch. This deal brings cod to far, far more players than before. If this deal hurts sony a ton, but helps Ms, PC, and Nintendo more, then overall it’s good for the market. That’s why sony desperately wants to keep nintendo out of the conversation.
Reed Pop could have actually established a new and lucrative business sector instead they went the Square Enix route, short term cash, long term damaged business relations, and poor growth.
Reading Sony answer, it is pretty obvious who benefits from console war mentality. It was a pretty lame and baseless document, no actual data showed whatsoever to support argumentations, everything based on gaming factoids, like “1080p makes you a better gamer”. Completely disgusting behavior.
I would wager that 95+% of gamers out there have no idea what’s going on inside the industry and do not follow this stuff with any sort of regularity. They just buy a system and then decide to buy the next one because they do not care about any of this stuff. They actually just play games because they are fun, not because it gives them some sense of identity or self-worth.
