Great review thanks - massive Battletech fan, have loved all the games so really looking forward to this.
Don’t mind it being a little more accessible - I’ve generally avoided the most hardcore sim settings on the previous games anyway.
The graphics look so much better than the previous games that the odd hiccup or bad texture / animation is forgivable.
Only hangup for me is playing the Clans as I’m an Inner Sphere fan, but it sounds like it’ll explore the problematic parts of their system so maybe I can do a Clan Wolf and switch sides lol.
Regardless, playing this day one!
Do you recommend M&KB or Controller? I’m comfortable with both usually.
If you’re an old school fan, play it old school, mouse and keyboard. If you’re a MechAssault fan, pad with modern controls.
Been using M&KB and manually reassigning weapons on the left side of my 'Mech to Weapon Group 1 (Left Click) and weapons on the right side of my mech to Weapon Group 2 (Right Click). It’s been working well to reconcile the controls with my 'Mechs actual design in my head so far, and I haven’t even started modifying my 'Mechs yet.
The hardest thing so far has been seeing them call the Vulture a Mad Dog and a Mad Cat a Timber Wolf. As someone who last interacted with the BattleMech universe during the Mechwarrior 2/MechAssault days these new (to me) names are hard to get used to (I’m still gonna call them Vulture/Mad Cat).
I’m loving the game so far. Hopefully this see’s some success and we can start getting more offshoot games in the BattleTech universe. BRING BACK MECHASSAULT PHIL! LOOK AT MY AVATAR FFS!
Been loving this so far - much prettier than the last game, and I bloody love big stompy stompy robots!
Hope they do an expansion where you can play as Victor Steiner-Davion and take the fight back to the Clans - admittedly I don’t know the end of this story yet…
