The pre-load for Marvel Rivals is up on Xbox Series consoles in preparation of Thursday night’s launch.

Marvel Rivals is a 44.56 GB download on Xbox Series X. The title releases on Thursday, December 5th at 7pm EST/4pm PST. The game describes itself as:

The merciless clash between tyrannical dictator Doctor Doom and his future counterpart from the year 2099 has forced countless universes to collide in the Timestream Entanglement, creating new worlds and crises unknown. Now, Super Heroes and Villains from across the multiverse must fight together and against one another as disparate groups each seek to best both Dooms before one achieves domination of these realities. Familiar faces become newfound foes while former enemies become the greatest of allies in Marvel Rivals!

Many of them have been announced, but not all.

Gonna download it tonight alongside Indiana Jones, I really need to get more space…

Played around 3 hours and my impressions are all over the place. First of all my first concern around third person gameplay is kinda legitimate, but I don’t know if it’s the third person perspective itself or the visual clutter at every given encounter that’s the core issue but there is glaring navigation and visual clarity issues, and it’s not helped by the annoying, unfocused audio.

There’s also the usual mess with everyone going with DPS heores which Overwatch solved with role queue, hope this is implemented asap.

What I liked though it can play really nice, some heroes at are really cool to play and have interesting and fun abilities. The presentation is mostly good, though it can look like a mobile game sometimes lol.

Still remains to be seen where it can go, it’s very flawed and needs lots of fixing. I wish they launched with less heroes so that things are more focused to address.
