I’ll play 180p if it means 60fps…whoever is nitpicking the resolution either has absurd priorities or doesn’t own an Xbox.
Or doesnt know how fps boost works
Was just asking, no need for the hostility
Wasn’t meant to respond to you, sorry if it looked like that
Lol no problem
Dishonored 2 is already on Game Pass
Yeah, it is. That’s good. Hoping the next batch of FPS Boost updates include Dishonored 2.
Yes it ran at native 4K (dynamic horizontally down to 3264x2160). The reason FPS boost is off by default is because they are lowering the resolution to get a consistent 60 FPS, so not all may want that. I don’t know how far down they lowered the resolution, remains to be seen. 1080P seems a bit extreme. With the 60 FPS mod, there were drops, but it was 60 FPS most of the time at 4K. If they indeed dropped it all the way down to 1080P, their current method may require an integer divider on the resolution, which is very limiting (or it’s a bug). Either way, probably should allow for an option to keep the resolution with FPS boost, giving the choice to live with the drops.
I should say it feels at least 1080. Probably 1440 or 2160p
once Super resolution kicks in, it won’t matter then.
That’s bizarre. For Fallout 76 and Fallout 4, with FPS boost, the Xbox Series X and S are running at the same resolution. I haven’t watched the video to see if the settings are the same, but I wonder if they’re running the One S profile on Series X for some reason. Either way, that’s something that warrants getting comment on from Xbox. Either this is a bug or the methodology has severe limitations in those games.
Xbox has already explained that sometimes to achieve 60 FPS via there BC solution - Resolution needs to be adjusted.
It’s just a quirk of there implementation.
They only said slightly adjusted previously. That’s not slight. And I don’t know that’s it a quirk in their implementation. They didn’t state that. It could just be that without specific optimizations (which is the case with their method since they are just tricking the game into running twice as fast at the DirectX level without touching game code) that getting a consistent framerate doubling is sometimes not possible without lowering the resolution.
Wow, Prey is just so much better to play now. MS BC team are just doing incredible things
So looking at the games getting FPS boost obviously some big engines seem to work
- Creation Engine (Skyrim, Fallout etc)
- Frostbite (UFC 4)
- Cry Engine (Prey)
- Unreal Engine (Dishonored)
- Anvil Engine (Watch Dogs 2, Far Cry?)
So far we have not seen Id tech (Dishonored 2, Evil Within), Unity and any japanese game engines
Going by this can we expect many games with the “proven” engines to get fps boost. Many engines ran at 30fps on these engines last gen. I really hope they can support id tech (Dishonored 2)
I feel like I should give it another go, it really didn’t feel good to play last time I did, and the sound mix was obnoxious.
Am I going crazy or was Fallout 4 much higher than 1080p on One X and pre-fps boost? And i know for a fact Fallout 76 was absolutely higher than 1080p. Yet Skyrim and Prey stay the resolutions they have always been in. For me this is not worth it. If it’s a issue with their fps boost tech, it’s unfortunate.
Had I not fully finished Fallout 4 yet I would definitely go with the mod, and do the trick so that achievements still unlock.
Some people dont know that fps boost is not done at the game code level and some compromises maybe possible.
Yeah I saw some comparison pics and in 76 especially, the reduction in resolution is very evident.
Hopefully F76 recieves a real Series X/S update at some point.
