If that’s the case on Xbox then yeah, I expect a lot of PS ports coming. Awesome!
The biggest tell-tale sign more Sony games are coming is they changed from PlayStation PC to PlayStation Publishing, thus removing the specific PC part and now publishing a game under the PlayStation brand name for the first time on Xbox.
And long may it continue. Now that we’re seeing this, we should applaud and hope everything eventually flows both ways.
Which game would be the case of “The box is open.” Don’t say GoW.
I think it’ll be Spider-Man. Universal IP, expensive to make, and Disney taking a large cut. Easy win for Sony, as it’ll undoubtedly sell well.
Horizon was one that came up on The Gaming Circle Podcast, specifically because Sony are hellbent on trying to make it a huge franchise across various media, and the Decima engine is up & running on Xbox.
Disney / Marvel IP make a lot of sense because of the cut and because Disney probably wants as much exposure as possible for their properties.
Also easy for Sony to justify to their crazy vocal minority fans why it’s going to Xbox.
Would love that one, if only to see which game gets to overshadow it this time, I already got horizons on PS5.
“It was all PlayStation” — Helldivers 2 CEO comments on how the popular co-op shooter arrived on Xbox**
An unexpected but welcome move was a PlayStation pushed move, as Helldivers 2 is set to release on Xbox. Arrowhead CEO tells fans “it was all PlayStation”
Helldivers 2 CEO says “Send your thanks” to PlayStation
In a surprise move, Sony appears to be the one that pushed for Helldivers 2 to release on Xbox. In response to a fan on Discord who praised Arrowhead for managing to bring the game to Xbox, CEO Shams Jorjani clarified the situation, saying, “It was all PlayStation. Send them your thanks! We were all in support of course.”
Going to need bubble shield from chaos.
I’ve seen so, SO many copes online saying it’s “Only because Arrowhead is a second party studio and Sony wanted to please them.” I have the game pre-ordered and I’m looking forward to it, but there’s been even more fun on following the twisted logic of people trying to downplay this. As if Sony aren’t porting their biggest multiplayer live service exclusive in eons only two years after launch and they aren’t porting it under their name on Xbox. In a some ways this is more monumental than Forza going over after 4 years or Sea of Thieves after like 6. In other ways it’s isn’t (it’s not as prestigious an IP), but no matter what this is a conscious decision SONY made and that’s huge. It shows just how different the industry, especially the console market, is becoming. This makes it out even more like Sony is the one that said, “Hey, let’s bring Helldivers to Xbox.” and arrowhead said, “That’s amazing! Let’s do it!”. Even if we go with that Arrowhead is lying to make PS/Sony look better… well, neither party are terminally underground. They both should know what it means in the social spaces to make it sound like Sony pushed for Helldivers 2 on Xbox and give Playstation the credit by name.
The twisted convoluted reactions are something to see as to why “this doesn’t count”.
It won’t even be 2 years for HellDivers 2 (1 year 6 months 18 days / ~ 18.6 months).
As I said elsewhere, it’s all Sony. Any games that they own the IP to that gets ported is because Sony agreed to it and wanted it to happen. Otherwise, they would simply say no.
