That site has been fermenting an anti-Xbox bias for years now. It started subtly but then got louder and louder.
I guess pretty much saying “Xbox players support genocide & antagonize good people who own non-MS products” (which is what that ban says, basically) is the mask finally coming off.
It’s a pogrom sorts, i.e. like that South Park episode where the kids have taken over town after the parents got wrongly accused of molestation and everything has gone to hell with weird cult like factions vying for control and ritual sacrifices.
Holy cow. I almost joked yesterday about how it seemed like a matter of days before saying something positive about Xbox becomes a bannable offense. I guess it’s really true.
I do love that fuckwits who can barely tell you who the leaders of the biggest countries on Earth are or what the Nuremberg trials were suddenly become experts in geopolitics and human rights law when it’s able to be used to bash their hated console rival…
Many of you know exactly where I stand on the subject (it isn’t with the oppressor), and gaming is one of the only things I have left to keep me sane. To see that Sony fanboys/Era are willing to turn this into another avenue for console warring, while they ignore the very fact that Sony directly helps that same government via image sensors and semiconductor chips, is beyond disgusting. That’s the lowest form of human life before de-evolving into an amoeba…
Of course. The fact their boycott is aimed primarily at Xbox says it all. The natural finality of their position should be to boycott everything with ties to Israel. That includes the US government as well - including both sides of the political divide. Then there’s simple facts of life whereby Microsoft and Apple both have ties with Israel, ergo following the logic of boycotting Xbox or calling for a boycott of Xbox they should just close that forum entirely because Google is also in deep with Israel. So that’s internet search engines, PC operating systems and Apple as well. There’s probably more if we did a slight amount of digging.
So as you said correctly, yes, it’s disgusting to use that war in the middle-east as a pretext to beat up on one specific brand and its users.
Someone replied before while being ignored, that even if you want to boycott the company, some people have invested so much money that it’s kind of impossible/really hard to cut ties completely. People can’t abandon their library of digital content just like that, as of right now, we are talking of decades of digitally owned games.
It’s just fanboys talking to themselves. This round of layoffs will change nothing, because we can’t do anything about it. It has happened every year now and I hope it will stop, because it is gutwrenching seeing projects get shut down, but if I still get games to play and the services still are of good value to me, I will continue investing in the platform for the forseeable future.
There’s two aspects to this topic, i.e. one is the console and Xbox business side of things. On that front, what else can I say other than I get my money’s worth with Xbox? It’s a good system that does everything I want. I enjoy the controller, the Series X on a hardware level and I get pretty much everything I want on the system. More so than I need actually considering my crazy long backlog of games (I still have Cyberpunk 2077 Ultimate Edition staring at me every time I boot up the console). So I have no real complaints.
Then there’s the ‘other side’, aka the firings, the Israel stuff and everything else. On that front Microsoft isn’t an island in the middle of a huge ocean - it’s part of a system that’s bigger than MS and goes right to the top of the world.
Bullying Xbox owners into ‘repenting’ and abandoning their games and entertainment library when we have absolutely no say in the bigger picture - even when voting - is low. We can’t be held responsible for “the system” and its flaws. It’s not our fault.
Just pre-ordered it there. $40 at launch seems like a reasonable price what with everything launching at $80 these days. I also want this game to do well on Xbox so that it encourages Sony to bring more titles over in the future.
Its gonna happen, at first i thought it was never going to occur cause i believed fanboys and such, but now?
Am gonna say somethign that is gonna sound very crazy: I honestly think we might get to witness something like Uncharted Collection, Death Stranding 2, Stellar Blade or even Days Before by the end of the year.
Everyone has to make the individual choices that are right for their own circumstances and conscience. We all only have so much energy and it’s not possible for anyone to prioritize every single thing at once. I don’t begrudge anyone who boycotts Microsoft and I don’t begrudge anyone who draws their personal line somewhere else. All that said it’s very obvious when silly people online use BDS as ammo against a company that they already hate for completely separate reasons.
A lot of people are acting like some kind of floodgate just opened. Just wait until the House of Mouse decides they want a bigger cut from the Spider-Man games from Sony. You can only think of the possibilities.
Honestly (could be wrong of course ) I think this is definitely just the beginning. Just a few months ago I was of the opinion that there was no way in hell Sony were willingly going to be putting their first party titles on Xbox (outside of MLB The Show and Marathon ) now I could definitely see GAAS being a test bed for eventually putting older titles on there too. I dunno maybe wishful thinking here but originally it was just the “four games” with Xbox until it wasn’t. Disney/Spider Man was already mentioned. Corporations love money after all and they’re not saying no to more sales.
We will presumably be able to buy/play Sony PS games released on Steam with the next gen Xbox/PC hybrid. Maybe they just say fuck it and cut out the middle man, sell directly to xbox with achievements
I would double dip on Gravity Rush 1 and 2, for xbox. Uncharted , og GOW trilogy or dare I say Bloodborne PC edition . Plus I’d love to see how the gaming media would then spin it.
It’s quite likely that next boundary broken will be either remasters or 3rd party titles, like Stellar Blade, Lost Soul Aside, maybe even Sony will get to cash in on DS2 on PC & Xbox.
Think about it from Sony’s angle. They ported most of their games to PC and PS5 is tracking very closely to PS4 and they’re achieving record revenue.
I don’t believe permanent exclusives are all that impactful these days outside of list wars.
I can see how Sony would continue experimenting with its timed exclusive approach, with PlayStation first, and releasing months or years later across PC, Xbox, Switch 2 and cloud for wider access.
Typically if a game is on the PC Store, their cut is around 88% instead of 70% for Steam. We’ve seen mentions of 85% and 88%. I cant remember which was more recent. Some it might be from MS also adjusting to the profit mix that Epic is using for EGS.
I made a bet with a good friend yesterday that until the end of 2026 we’ll see a AAA single player Sony game announced for Xbox, as you said it may be an older PS4 title like a Bloodborne Remaster or the first Spider-Man game but I believe Sony won’t stop at GAAS/multiplayer. And if you think about it it makes sense because especially those older titles did what they could do for the platform/ecosystem so now on Xbox they are more/new sales and easy money from those games that are pretty much “done” on Playstation.
BTW if the above happens the meltdowns will be biblical and I am here for all of it.
