Halo |OT2| Forging Ahead

Trying to basically catch up on the whole overall Halo story and i found this site

It’s kinda crazy how many books, comics etc there are, I am not a huge reader and it’s clear I’m missing out on tons of lore, even Chief’s origins. Wish the games had covered this better.

If I was a big reader I’d buy them all, but I’m probably better off watching a YouTube video on everything.

I think it might depend on how high your rank is

I watch Lucid play a lot from Optic and at the level hes at, hes encountering them all the time, im assuming the people using cheats win a lot so they are in onyx

Question about something in the Halo story, and since we’re in the Infinite thread these are not spoilers.

I just did a nice long read up on all what transpired in the Halo games chronologically. There’s just one thing I don’t get…

At some point humanity was helping Covenant to weed out the rogue ones and after that…peace. so in Infinite, are we still fighting rogue Covenant or did peace just not last very long?

Also and this I will spoiler tag because I think it’s from one of the books or comics, I just read this and this doesn’t happen in the games…

It turns out Humanity was chosen by the Forerunners. But why don’t the games touch on tnis at all?

They were helping out the Swords of Sanghelios (Arbiter’s people) in eliminating the remnants of the covenant, not helping the Covenant.

They do briefly touch on it in the games, none of the Covenant were able to activate the Halo Rings, they needed Humans to do it which is why they kidnapped Miranda Keys/Sgt Johnson in the OG trilogy. 343 decided to take that a step further in Halo 4 and flesh it out.

Nice! Thanks for clarifying that. I clearly misunderstood that about the covenant then. So the majority of them still believes they are a affront to the Forerunners?

It’s more so a vacuum of power and a bunch of people trying to fill it in by taking a slice of the pie in terms of the remnants of the Covenant. If you’re talking about the remnants of the Covenant that is.

lmfao this hittin too close to home :grimacing:

Yes, thanks for the info

And is there anything between Halo Wars 2 and Infinite lore wise that I need to know about? Did any new books or comics come out telling some new story bits or not really?

I found the prologue cutscenes of Infinite a little confusing, the part with the banished and Chief. But after having seen a recap of all games ending with Halo Wars 2 is assume that part is from Wars 2?

Because if not, how did we go from 5’s ending to that bit with the banished and Chief, and then Chief found in space by the pilot?

No problem !

And I’m just as confused as you are, there’s not much rich information in that time period. I’m sure future books and comics will fill in the gaps.

I can’t revisit missions, so how can I obtain logs and skulls that I missed during the prologue for example?

You have to start a new game. When you do, make sure you get the tank gun so you can run through the campaign.

Ok, I’ll do that after my first playthrough. Because I assume if I start one now it will overwrite my current one? And tank gun is something I get later on? Doesn’t ring a bell to me.

No, you can have up to 4 separate campaign slots. The collectibles are shared between slots. So can just start a new campaign, play through the first mission(s) again to get collectibles, and go back to your current playthrough if you want.

That is very cool! I might start the Hunt for that skull in the prologue then.

Multiplayer has been out 2 months and still can’t play the mode I want to play. RANKED SLAYER. not an unreasonable request it’s been in every past halo game at launch(besides halo 4). Like what the hell oddball and strongholds are terrible modes.

They have said they are scared that people won’t want to play the objective modes. So they are admitting to forcing people into modes they don’t want to play. None of my ranked friends want to play strongholds or oddball. And playing objective modes when by yourself sucks because it takes a lot of coordination.

Also as a high level onyx I can tell you cheating is rampant. Wall hacks are easy to notice and they are doing it in half the game I play.

Edit- I only want ranked slayer and team doubles please those are basic modes.

Exactly what @ganaconda said.

You can only can get the tank gun the first time you get to Camp Tremonious, after that it becomes unavailable.

Tactical Slayer has to be the most boring game mode since…the inventon of game modes.

That’s what I thought until I was in a BTB match where after 1 minute it was 1v1 with 14 minutes to go…
